Reading Champion

Flexible, 9am - 3pm 1 day, 10am - 4pm 1 day (30 minutes lunch break)
You will need to work flexibly. (These times / hours worked will need to be flexible to meet the needs of the school and pupils. These could be done over two days or one whole day and two half days)
39 Weeks per year (to include attendance at INSET days)
Grade 1/2, Points 2 – 5
Actual Salary: £7,639 - £7,967 p.a.

We are looking to recruit a reading champion to promote the love of books and reading, delivering a safe and supportive environment to enable our children to achieve the best possible outcomes.
You will need to be a caring and dedicated individual prepared to join our hard-working staff team who is committed to high standards. The post holder should have expertise and experience in working with children and relevant qualifications.
The successful candidate will ideally:
- Hold an NVQ Level 3 or above
- Enjoy working with young children and be passionate about supporting and promoting learning;
- Be able to engage, enthuse, motivate and challenge children
- Work successfully as part of a team, accepting and acting upon advice and being proactive where appropriate
- Be responsible for groups of children and/or conducting 1:1 activities
- Show initiative
- Have high expectations of attainment and pupil behaviour
- Be flexible, hardworking and caring.
- Be able to liaise with parents
- A knowledge of children’s literature and promote a love of reading
- Support and develop the library, putting up and maintaining displays and information boards, supporting exhibitions and one-off events.
- Has a good sense of humour, likes cake, chocolate and has a positive outlook on life.
