seeking to appoint five new Members to sit on its Independent Remuneration Panel which reviews the Council’s Members’ Allowances Scheme.  We are seeking nominations preferably from the Arun Business Community or voluntary sector and if interested, you should be able to demonstrate:</p>\n<ul>\n<li>an understanding of and interest in the public sector, particularly local government</li>\n<li>experience of working within the district</li>\n<li>some knowledge of pay and allowances within other organisations</li>\n<li>an ability to undertake research and compile reports</li>\n<li>strong communication and presentation skills, the ability to interview and question</li>\n<li>the ability to act independently</li>\n<li>the ability to work positively with Councillors and to be able to openly scrutinise and challenge</li>\n<li>the ability to manage the commitment and workload involved</li>\n<li>good committee skills as attendance at the Audit & Governance Committee is required</li>\n</ul>\n<p>The new Panel members would be expected to commit between 10-15 hours per month <strong>when</strong> working on a review of the Members’ Allowances Scheme which involves attendance at meetings, background research and report preparation.  It is a statutory requirement for the Council to have an Independent Remuneration Panel in place.</p>\n<p>If
