The Post
This opportunity is for the shared IT service; the shared service is made up of Brent, Lewisham and Southwark councils and the host is Brent council.
It’s an exciting service where we draw from the capabilities of each of the councils to leverage shared learning to ultimately enable front-line services with technology.
Your role in this will be responsible for our frontline service to staff, managing the operational performance, ensuring we meet our obligations of the Inter Authority Agreement and customer satisfaction levels.
Examples of what you will be doing are:
• Playing a critical role in the overall management of the service.
• Representing the users’ needs internally into the shared service.
• Reviewing performance metrics, identify opportunities and working with the Service Design team for continuous improvement.
• Collaborate with the Director of Operations to develop and execute the annual strategic plan for IT shared services, aligning operational goals with organisational objectives.
• Conduct regular assessments of operational performance to identify areas for improvement and implement action plans.
• Assist the Managing Director in the development and execution of strategic plans for IT shared services.
The ideal Deputy Director of Operations will not only possess the requisite skills and experience but also embody the values and culture of the shared service and its councils. This individual will be instrumental in driving operational excellence and supporting the services’ mission to deliver innovative IT shared services that enhance partner and stakeholder experiences.
• Minimum of 10 of experience in IT operations management, with a focus on shared services.
• Proven leadership skills with experience in managing teams and driving operational performance.
• Strong understanding of IT service management frameworks (e.g., ITIL) and best practices.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
• Experience in managing diverse teams, the ideal candidate will be an inspiring leader who fosters a collaborative and high-performance culture. You will possess the ability to motivate and engage team members, driving them toward shared objectives.
