Brent is a tremendously vibrant London borough where the iconic arch of Wembley Stadium dominates the skyline. Spanning both inner and outer London, it is a borough of huge contrasts in terms of its economic, environmental, ethnic and social make up. Brent’s diversity is evident to all who visit our borough and our long history of ethnic and cultural diversity has created a place that is truly unique and valued by those who live and work here.

The council is pursuing a far-reaching transformation agenda that better meets the needs of our community so it is an exciting time to join us.

The Post

The Family Hubs and Start for Life programme was introduced into Brent just under 2 years ago. This role will promote start for life services by linking into communities and supporting them to access – this might involve motivating them on the phone, talking to them about services, helping them to access transport and attending events to share information, creating leaflets/workshops etc.

The role will also cover:

Raising awareness of services with residents
Working with partners to design and share health information for relevant population.
Actively listen and promote services for early years intervention.
Work with communities to learn how to promote information.
Supporting families to access services.
Linking and building relationships in the community.

The Person

This role will also work closely with the newly formed Brent Health Matters Children's and Young people team, specifically with the link worker who will be working closely with families and residents. The two roles working together will provide holistic support and information – with families getting support for mental health, asthma and immunisations and then being able to loop and link them into Start for life services and vice versa, strengthening the local offer and creating a singular narrative for Start for Life services.

If you are up for the challenge and rewards that come from delivering excellent services, focusing on quality outcomes through innovative and creative solutions, we would welcome your application.
