An exciting opportunity has arisen for an individual to join the Repairs and Maintenance Service of Council Housing as an Estate Steward/Labourer. The successful candidate will undertake general tasks within the Council Housing stock and the surrounding external areas. You will be required to undertake a range of tasks within void and occupied properties providing a cleaning, decorating and gardening service. You will also work alongside our landscapers undertaking fencing, paving/paths and other external works for a minimum of 2 days per week.
You must be able to work on your own initiative with minimum supervision and meet our high standards for quality completed works and high customer satisfaction. With experience of the Health and Safety at Work Act, you will ensure safe working practises are always adhered to.
The role will involve undertaking both internal and external works that will be carried out in a range of weather conditions. You will at times be working within empty properties and returning them to the Council Lettable Standard. You will be also required to work throughout the district when required and must be flexible in your approach to meet the demands of the service.
This post is permanent. The working hours for this post are 37 hours per week working Monday to Thursday, 8.00am to 4.30pm, and Friday, 8.00am to 3.30pm, however you are required for operational purposes to work 39 hours per week. As this is in excess of the standard 37-hour week, you will accrue 1 days leave for every 20 days worked. You will be based at White Lund Depot, Morecambe.
A full current UK driving licence is essential, as the post holder will be required to move between properties and travel to different locations as required and drive a Council provided vehicle.
As a result you will be required to sign up to the authorised external DVLA driving licence validation organisation that we use to manage and monitor our employees driving licence data.
You may be required to undertake Standby duties to cover out of hours work.
The successful candidate will be subject to a basic clearance with the disclosure and barring service.
