Bexley understands having a stable team of highly skilled social workers and managers that makes the real difference to children and families. So we are investing in the future by developing an ‘Academy’ for students and Newly Qualified Social Workers (NQSWs). We have some exciting new job opportunities for outstanding practitioners who share our vision and want an alternative career path in practice education.

In early 2015 Bexley Children’s Services created ‘The Academy’, to lead and promote professional development in social work. The Academy supports students on the ‘Step up’ programme and two ‘Frontline’ units. We have developed an innovative model providing NQSW’s with a high quality Assessed and Supported Year in Employment (ASYE). The Academy team also provides a comprehensive programme of learning for all social workers and managers, including running our talent management programme.

You will need to be an excellent leader and educator with experience of management, training and quality assurance. You will manage the Academy, deliver training to our frontline practitioners, and work with the Principal Social Worker to undertake auditing activity and lead on service user engagement, including managing the Child in Care Council and our Young Director. You will supervise a team of seven professional development practitioners, educators and consultants in the academy to drive up the quality of practice.

Appointment to this post will be subject to the outcome of an Enhanced Disclosure obtained through the Disclosure and Barring Service.
