This is an excellent opportunity within the Hertfordshire County Council Safeguarding and Specialist Services team for an Assistant Accountancy Officer role for 20 hours per week, on a 1 year Fixed Term contract.
You will be responsible for ensuring the delivery of effective and timely payment for Independent Placements in Children’s Services by supporting the management of the team responsible for payments, co-ordinating and directing the work in this area. You will support the budget monitoring of Independent Placements, a high profile budget, as well as supporting the provision of timely, accurate and business focussed financial advice and information to all stakeholders, including finance colleagues in the Finance Business Partner team, CS Managers, service users and care providers.
You will need to be a team player and be able to positively encourage others. You will be expected to promote best financial practice and compliance with the financial regulations and procedures. Good interpersonal and communication skills are a must, as you will be expected to challenge and contribute to the identification of opportunities for service improvement and increased efficiency.
Experience of working with complex spreadsheets and the ability to communicate effectively is essential, as is the ability to provide support to people with varying financial knowledge.
This role would ideally suit someone who holds or is actively studying for the AAT qualification or other accounting qualifications.
