Neighbourhood Services are looking for a Cemetery Officer to liaise with funeral directors in organising bookings for burials in our four cemeteries within the borough.
Duties to include take calls and answering emails from funeral directors and bereaved family members in organising funerals.&nbsp; To regularly visit the cemeteries in the borough and liaise with cemetery staff prior to burial (Driving Licence is essential for site visits).&nbsp; Arranging permits for memorial masons to install headstones and memorials.&nbsp; To update the cemetery database with historical data from the burial books and grave grants. To facilitate the arranging of memorial testing for all cemeteries and burial grounds every five years. To review the Cemetery website and update on a regular basis.
You will have strong IT and clerical skills together with excellent customer service and communication skills.&nbsp; You should be team focused, adaptable, approachable and compassionate.
The ability to converse at ease with customers and provide advice in accurate spoken English is essential for customer facing posts.&nbsp; These posts fall within the scope of the Code of Practice on English language requirement for public sector workers.&nbsp; The Council, therefore, has a statutory duty under Part 7 of the Immigration Act 2016 to ensure that post holders have a command of spoken English sufficient for the effective performance of the job requirements. To provide secretarial, administrative and research support services to the Assistant Directors - Skills &amp; Employment, which are responsive to their needs and contribute to making their roles effective. Provide support for a team of over 150 people which includes clerking senior management team meetings and leading on team events such as unit away days.
<h2>What your day will look like</h2>
You will:

<li>Provide high level secretarial support to the Assistant Directors, including:</li>

<li>Arranging meetings, collating agendas, distributing papers and taking minutes</li>

<li>Arrange meetings, including finding suitable dates, booking rooms, ordering catering and equipment; produce and circulate meeting documentation such as agendas, minutes and presentations and noting and following up on any actions agreed as required.</li>
<li>Liaise with stakeholders including London Councils, boroughs, representative bodies of the skills sector, business and other key partners and maintain excellent working relationships.&nbsp;</li>
<li>Co-ordinate, manage and plan consultation and stakeholder events and communications activities.</li>

<h2>Skills, knowledge and experience</h2>
To be considered for the role you must meet the following essential criteria:

<li>Experience of providing high-level secretarial support to a senior leader.</li>
<li>Experience of providing supporting a large team including onboarding of new staff and implementing processes to support staff.</li>
<li>Experience of using IT systems including MS Outlook, word-processing, spreadsheets and databases.</li>
<li>Strong communication skills and experience of working to demanding deadlines and working with a range of stakeholders.</li>
