Are you looking for a new career opportunity in a fast developing, forward thinking, ambitious, and commercially focussed organisation?
Demonstrating that you are an innovative, supportive, positive and flexible person, you will be able to contribute towards our financial self sufficiency by 2020 and our 5 year plan.
Our recently renovated office environment, agile working options and technology are fundamental in supporting you to be most at your most creative, and productive.
The Council is committed to the care of its trees and woodland heritage. We manage approximately 550 hectares of publicly accessible woodland.
The overall purpose of the role is to provide professional advice and contract management for all arboriculture and woodland management matters within parks, open spaces, cemeteries and allotments. You will need to ensure health and safety compliance and contribute to service improvements.
You should possess technical and practical knowledge of all aspects of Arboriculture. You will preferably have a Higher National Diploma in Arboriculture, or relevant equivalent qualification, with a minimum of three years work current experience in arboricultural management.
Your responsibilities will include Arboricultural service development and programming of capital and revenue schemes, tree inspections and condition surveys. You will be expected to liaise with and provide advice to other Council departments and to deal with enquires from members of the public.
You must be I.T. literate, and preferably familiar with the MyTrees software system (or similar).
Good written and verbal communication skills are essential, together with strong organisational ability and accurate attention to detail.
In exchange for your expertise, experience and enthusiasm, we will offer support in continuing your personal and career development, in addition to providing a wide range of employment linked benefits.
We will provide you with competitive annual leave, and contribute 15% towards the LGPS pension scheme. You will also have access to a range of discounts including annual ‘Better’ leisure centre membership, local and high street stores, and salary sacrifice schemes including a cycle lease scheme, and childcare vouchers.
For an informal discussion about the role, please call Lee Wilcox, Greenspaces Manager on 01737 276228.
We are proud to support the guaranteed interview schemes for those meeting the essential criteria for the role, under the Disability Confident employer scheme for disabled candidates, and the ‘Veteran’s scheme’ for ex-armed forces candidates.
Closing date: Sunday 13th August
Interview date: Thursday 24th August
