The Economy, Transport and Environment Directorate works in areas such as transport, new infrastructure, roads, and the environment. It aims to manage and deliver the growth and development of sustainable communities, meet the challenges of climate change and enhance the natural environment. This role is based within the Highways Service and provides an excellent opportunity for an enthusiastic individual looking to be part of a professional and motivated team. As Assistant Engineer within the Highway Projects and Road Safety team you will play a key role in the delivery of highway schemes, taking them from feasibility through to construction. Schemes range from minor improvements to major redesigns and carriageway reconstruction. We are looking for a candidate with experience in the design, planning and construction of local transport projects that have been developed to meet the needs of the local community. Good communication skills and a proactive approach to partnership working are also key requirements. With various offices around the County we can be flexible about working location, but the ability to travel to different locations is essential.
