The Council’s Engineering Services undertakes a broad range of civil, municipal and environmental engineering work on behalf of both Adur District Council and Worthing Borough Council.

An enthusiastic Assistant Engineer is required to assist with the design, maintenance and management of all civil, municipal and environmental engineering schemes and general asset management.

You will also engage and consult with a wide range of stakeholders, from residence to community groups, contractors and consultants to other Council Services. You`ll be comfortable communicating with people of all levels and proactive in your approach.

Good technical knowledge and awareness of relevant health and safety legislation, codes of practice, design and general maintenance techniques is essential. You will possess excellent IT skills, including AutoCAD.

The position requires the post holder to hold a valid driving license to be able to travel around Adur and Worthing as part of their duties.

Starting salary will be dependent on experience, qualifications and ability.

The minimum qualification for the post:

  • BTEC ONC in Civil Engineering, with demonstrable experience and a good knowledge of design practice, health and safety (Construction), contract law, AutoCAD and MS office software packages.
