Are you looking for a new challenge? If so, Arun District Council are seeking motivated and driven planners to join our Policy & Conservation (Local Plans) Team. Arun is a District with a vision to be a vibrant and attractive place to live, work and visit. The District features coastal towns, including Bognor Regis and Littlehampton with their seaside heritage and regeneration schemes, and the historic market town of Arundel, which acts as a gateway to the South Downs National Park.
Arun is undergoing a significant change with the adopted Local Plan seeking to secure the delivery of over 20,000 homes by 2031 as well as significant employment growth. There is a need to update the Local Plan and so this is an exciting time in Arun and any planner seeking a challenge or looking to make the next big step in their career will be provided with the necessary support and opportunity to develop professionally. The role will play a critical role in progressing the preparation of a Local Plan working alongside elected members, senior staff and appointed consultant and riving forward evidence preparation, policy formulation and consultation.
We are seeking a highly self-motivated and enthusiastic Senior Planning Policy Officer to help us complete and implement our Local Plan. The role will undertake a variety of tasks from assisting in the preparation, adoption, and delivery of the emerging Local Plan, supporting the preparation of Neighbourhood Plans and the preparation of supplementary planning documents and masterplans.
Part of the role also involves liaising with outside bodies/stakeholders/interested individuals/expert bodies and statutory consultees in the preparation of the policy framework.
Flexible working will be considered. We are currently working a hybrid arrangement of both home and office working, which could be considered on a longer-term basis, subject to the requirement to attend site visits, as well as Committee meetings and briefings held at the office. General arrangements are based on office working 2 days a week.
