The main priority is to maintain a consistent standard across all grounds maintenance areas and develop its service centred around community engagement and interaction of Portsmouth's Parks and Open Spaces.</p><p>Within this role you will be required to undertake tractor driving duties throughout the city. Particular reference to the use of large tractor and mowing equipment and any other type of tractor mounted equipment (ie gang mowers including setting up and maintenance, tractor mounted equipment associated to winter sports renovations). As well as being able to maintain and understand the combinations of fuel appropriate to equipment, identifying and understanding when equipment is failing, you will be able to determine tractor implements required for each individual task. You will be responsible for carrying out plant and machinery inspections reporting any concerns or issues and will communicate directly with machine suppliers/service technicians to explain any machine faults. Working as part of a team you will advise inexperienced team members of good horticultural practices and the correct use of machinery and PPE. Full training and uniform will be provided.</p><p><strong>Who is the person:</strong></p><p>You will hold a City and Guilds NPTC Level 2 Certificate of Competence Tractor or equivalent as well as a full driving licence. Able to use your own initiative you will have knowledge of horticultural operations and be experienced in the use of large and small horticultural/agricultural machinery including front loader operation. You will be able to maintain a varied range of tractor and tractor mounted equipment and adjust machinery to maximise operation. Self motivated with the ability to make judgements of safe working within a busy park or open space you will report issues and/or necessary re-routing to the supervisor.
