Chesterfield Borough Council are currently seeking a replacement caretaker/handyperson to join our team at the Clocktower.
If successful, you will assist the centre co-ordinator in the day-to-day operation of the Clocktower Business Centre in Staveley.
The centre provides 68 small business units which are occupied by numerous tenants and managed by the corporate property and estates team at Chesterfield Borough Council.
The successful candidate will undertake minor repairs and maintenance of the internal common areas including minor joinery and plumbing together with light grounds maintenance duties of the external parts including weeding, waste and rubbish and ensuring health and safety compliance.
You will report and monitor requests for repair work to the centre co-ordinator or the council’s facilities maintenance team and facilitate internal and external contractors on site. You will also assist in the provision of services to tenants delivering a high level of customer service.
This role will involve the maintenance of accurate manual records for statutory compliance and health and safety monitoring, including fire safety drills, evacuations and legionella monitoring. The work is often quite physical and will include lifting and carrying and use of ladders and tools.
The 18 hours per week vacancy will involve undertaking inspections at two other council owned commercial properties (Prospect House and Ireland Close workshops), so a full driving licence is essential.
