We have an excellent opportunity available for a Financial Assessments Review Officer Apprentice to join our Adult Social Care Team here at Wokingham Borough Council, on a full time, 18-month Fixed Term Contract.
As the Financial Assessment Review Officer Apprentice, you will play a key role in providing high quality support to the Financial Assessment and Payments team. Key Responsibilities:

<li>Carry out financial assessments reviews and annual reviews under the Council’s Charging Policies and other legal frameworks, through desk-based work, in accordance with defined legislation, procedures and timescales so the Council may correctly charge for social services care packages, respite and residential care.</li>

<li>To be a named representative and key link between Adult Social Care and Health. To liaise directly with GP surgeries about case work.</li>

<li>To offer a range of services, training and interventions to children, families and early years practitioners to support the development of children (aged 0-5 years) with SEND.</li>
<li>Manage a caseload of early years settings, children and families, adjusting support to meet individual need. Arranging and/or facilitating child focused meetings, undertaking and or supporting requests for Inclusion Funding and/or Education, Health and Care needs assessments (EHCPs).</li>

You will have strong administrative skills as well as previous experience in similar posts.

We're looking for a dedicated and motivated
 Income and Recovery Officer to join our Client Finances Team in
 Adult Social Care at Reading Borough Council. This is a fantastic
 opportunity to support the financial wellbeing of residents who
 receive care services, by ensuring accurate billing and effective
 recovery of income, while providing compassionate and informed
 advice.

About the role:
As an Income and Recovery Officer, you'll
 play a vital role in supporting the financial sustainability of
 Adult Social Care services. You'll be responsible for recovering
 outstanding care charges by engaging directly with customers,
 their families, and care providers. Whether its negotiating
 payment plans or providing advice to those experiencing financial
 difficulties, your focus will be on delivering a respectful,
 fair, and customer-centred service. 
 
You'll process invoices, administer direct
 debits, and investigate payment queries, ensuring that records
 are accurate and up to date. You'll respond to enquiries across a
 range of channels - phone, email, face-to-face and work closely
 with internal teams and external agencies, including the
 Department for Work and Pensions, Citizens Advice, and legal
 representatives, to resolve complex issues and support vulnerable
 residents. 
 
Depending on your experience and
 progression within the role, you may also be involved in more
 advanced tasks such as preparing legal cases, responding to
 formal complaints, making home visits, or representing the
 Council in court proceedings. You'll also help promote financial
 and digital inclusion, signpost customers to further support, and
 contribute to the Councils digital transformation and continuous
 service improvement.

We have an exciting opportunity for a committed worker, with experience of working with 16–25 year olds, to join our team as a Leaving Care Personal Adviser.
<h3>About you...</h3>
As a Leaving Care Personal Adviser, you will develop an effective working relationship with young people eligible for leaving care services. You will motivate and effectively support them to engage in education, training and employment whilst ensuring they effectively handle their finances, live in suitable housing, and have the necessary emotional resilience and skills for independence.
As a Leaving Care Personal Adviser, you will need a wide range of skills including knowledge of issues that impact care leavers and unaccompanied young people. You will play a key part in supporting them into adulthood and preparing them with skills to ensure they have the best chances moving forward independently.
You will need to think creatively and take the lead on some participation and group activities for the cohort of care leavers that we work with.

You will be supported to carry out the following duties, responsibilities and training…

<li>Carry out holistic assessments of young people leaving care.</li>
<li>To act as a personal adviser to a caseload of young people leaving care.</li>
<li>To promote the Leaving Care Service to partner agencies.</li>
<li>To work in partnership with other professionals.</li>
<li>To actively refer care leavers into appropriate services.</li>
<li>To maintain appropriate case management records.</li>
<li>To work flexibly to meet the needs of young people leaving care. This may include traveling out of area and working in the evening.</li>
