You will manage a team who support people who self fund their care as well as those who received a Direct Payments from the Local Authority.

The team works closely with both Adults and Children’s Social Care colleagues in our in order to ensure that users of self-directed support are meeting their identified needs safely and managing their finances appropriately. The team’s work includes providing advice, information and assistance with all aspects of Self Directed Support, this includes working directly with potential or ongoing self-directed support users and informal carers. Assisting them with recruitment, employing and managing their own staff and completing financial returns. They may also assist with sourcing provider agencies and services to meet a person’s needs and outcomes.

As the team’s manager you will be responsible for the supervision and development of a small team of advisors. You will also ensure work is prioritised effectively, will ensure systems and procedures are operated correctly, and will work closely with colleagues in our community teams and the finance team to ensure that the most complex cases are resolved promptly and appropriately. A number of improvements in systems and processes are planned for our Self-Directed Support functions in the coming months, and you will also support the team in implementing these changes.

People who use our service may have extremely complex/challenging needs and therefore you will need to have a full understanding of the types of Services available.

This position requires a person with excellent organisational and problem solving skills, the ability to think outside the box to achieve goals and to inspire staff especially in times of high volumes of work. You will also be a professional, competent individual that likes a challenge and can build excellent working relationships with all stakeholders, to develop and promote the service
