The King Edward VII Memorial Hospital is looking for an experienced Sonographer seeking work in a friendly and supportive team which provides excellent care for patients.&nbsp; The hospital is the principal healthcare facility in the Falkland Islands providing primary care and a broad range of elective and emergency secondary care services.
The hospital is modern and well equipped and there are ambitious plans to expand and further upgrade facilities.&nbsp; In addition to Ultrasound, the imaging service provides Computed Tomography, Mammography and Plain Radiography. The service adheres to United Kingdom practices and standards, modified to local needs.
The Role
Providing and reporting obstetric and general ultrasound scans within agreed departmental protocols and without clinical supervision.&nbsp; There is no requirement for on-call.&nbsp; Applications from obstetric only and midwife sonographers are welcome.&nbsp;
The hospital environment is one in which clinical staff have the time, resources, and support to provide the highest standards of care and to develop their careers.&nbsp; In addition to being supported to practise with a broad scope, clinical staff are encouraged and assisted to develop particular areas of expertise and to undertake service improvement.
The Person

<ul>
<li>Holds a BSc in Diagnostic Radiography or equivalent qualification</li>
<li>Post graduate qualification in Medical Ultrasound</li>
<li>Has two years or more experience of ultrasound scanning including obstetrics, gynaecology and general.</li>
<li>Membership pf the Society of Radiographers or equivalent and registered with HPC</li>
<li>Able to work independently and as part of a team and with strong communication skills</li>
</ul>

The Package
<ul>
<li>A base salary of £42,141 to £52,055 (dependent upon experience)</li>
<li>A gratuity (lump sum) payment on completion of contract equivalent to 25% of the total salary value of the contract.</li>
<li>A relocation allowance, to help with moving costs.</li>
<li>Paid leave of 41 days comprising 30 days of annual leave and 11 days of government/public holidays.</li>
<li>Free flights for employee and recognised dependants at post both at the beginning and end of the contract plus additional annual return flights after the first year.</li>
<li>Good quality furnished accommodation at reasonable rental rates and a starter pack to help settle in.</li>
<li>A stimulating and supportive setting to work in and a unique and beautiful setting to live in.</li>

King Edward VII Memorial Hospital 
Falkland Islands (South Atlantic Ocean)
The King Edward VII Memorial Hospital (KEMH) is looking for an experienced dental therapist to join their friendly and supportive team.
The dental team (3 clinicians and 5 nurses), delivers a comprehensive range of oral health services to the local population including primary care, public health initiatives, and emergency dental care. The dental facility boasts three well-equipped surgeries with digital radiography and a small laboratory area, following UK standards of care while tailoring practices to meet the unique local needs.
The Role
This position presents an exciting opportunity for the successful applicant to contribute to the oral health of the Falkland Islands, delivering quality restorative and preventative dental care as part of the dental team.
Specific benefits of this position include:

<li>The support of a dental nurse in surgery,</li>
<li>Broad range of patient groups and treatments to offer,</li>
<li>Access to in-house and external CPD,</li>
<li>Fee-free dental service, eliminating need for financial discussions with patients.</li>

The role is split half and half between dental hygiene and dental therapy lists, up to the full General Dental Council (GDC) scope of practice for dental therapists. Specific duties may include:
<ul>
<li>Patient assessment and examination including taking and interpreting radiographs and formulating treatment plans,</li>
<li>Performing periodontal treatments to prevent and manage gum disease,</li>
<li>Providing direct restorative treatments including fillings and sealants,</li>
<li>Extracting deciduous (baby) teeth safely and effectively,</li>
<li>Applying fluoride treatments and other preventive measures.</li>
</ul>
In addition to your clinical responsibilities, you will be expected to:
<ul>
<li>Participate in developing and applying the Falkland Islands' Oral Health Strategy,</li>
<li>Participate in clinical governance activities, mentoring of trainee dental nurses, and community oral health promotion activities.</li>
</ul>
The Person Must
<ul>
<li>Hold a degree in Dental Therapy &amp; Hygiene BSc (or recognised equivalent),</li>
<li>Be registered with the UK General Dental Council (GDC) as a dental therapist and have relevant work experience in the role, ideally in a UK NHS practice or similar,</li>
<li>Have strong communication skills,</li>
<li>Be able to work and communicate effectively as part of a busy dental team.</li>
</ul>

The Package
<ul>
<li>
Fixed term contract of 2-4 years</li>
<li>
Total package equivalent of £61,002 per annum, comprised of £40,668 base salary plus 25% market supplement on the base salary, with a 25% gratuity (lump sum payment) for successful contract completion being awarded at the end of the contract term.</li>
<li>A working week of 35 hours, Monday to Friday, with no on-call or out-of-hours requirements,</li>
<li>
41 days of paid leave: 30 days of annual leave and 11 days of public/government holiday,</li>
<li>
Relocation allowance to help with moving costs,</li>
<li>
Free flights for the employee and dependents at the beginning and end of the contract, plus annual return flights after the first year.</li>
