Independence at Home is offering the opportunity for you to work with us to help improve the lives of vulnerable people living in their own homes. The service provides a personal approach to helping people who find themselves unable to manage day-to-day tasks.

We work with people for up to six weeks to help them to learn to do things in a different way to increase independence and confidence. This includes support with daily personal care, washing, getting dressed, using the toilet, and assisting with moving and handling.

What the job involves:

•Helping people carry out their daily activities in line with individual Person Centred Plans
•Promoting independence, dignity and choice
•Emotional and social support
•Liaising with family members and health care providers
•Updating care records to reflect changing needs and preferences
•Working across the City of Brighton & Hove
•Regular training to develop skills

You will have:

•Experience of working within a care environment for older people (preferred but not essential)
•Little or no care experience? No problem. Our expert in-house training team will train you up to industry standards - with no upfront costs
•We can provide the training and qualifications required to help progress your career in health care
•Willingness to work to maintain our high standards
•Excellent communication skills both verbal and written
•A commitment to providing excellent standards of care and support in line with guidelines issued by the Care Quality Commission
•Flexible in your approach and have the ability to work as part of a team as well as the confidence to work alone
•The ability to work under pressure and to use your initiative
