We deliver the incredible musical, personal and social outcomes that come from learning a musical instrument week in, week out.<h4>About the role</h4>Key ResponsibilitiesSite Maintenance &amp; Safety<ul><li>Conduct daily visual inspections of the premises, ensuring heating, lighting, alarm systems, and other facilities are functioning correctly.</li><li>Report faults, hazards, or maintenance issues promptly to the appropriate personnel.</li><li>Carry out minor repairs and maintenance tasks where appropriate.</li><li>Ensure external areas (e.g., entrances, pathways) are safe and tidy.</li><li>Maintain the site in a clean and orderly condition at all times, with particular attention during school holidays when contract cleaning services are unavailable.</li></ul>Health &amp; Safety<ul><li>Demonstrate a proactive approach to Health &amp; Safety, ensuring compliance with relevant policies and procedures.</li><li>Complete Health &amp; Safety training as required.</li><li>Support the implementation of risk assessments and emergency procedures.</li><li>Maintain accurate records of safety checks and incidents.</li></ul>Operational Support<ul><li>Set up and dismantle rooms for events, including moving instruments, chairs, tables, and other equipment.</li><li>Assist with the unlocking of the centre at the beginning of the day.</li><li>Support the logistics of musical tuition, including room preparation and equipment availability.</li><li>Monitor and replenish cleaning and maintenance supplies as needed.</li></ul>General Duties<ul><li>Maintain a professional and approachable presence on site.</li><li>Liaise effectively with staff, tutors, students, and visitors to support the smooth running of the centre.</li><li>Assist with deliveries and storage of equipment and materials.</li></ul><h4>About you</h4>Essential:<ul><li>Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.</li><li>Ability to prioritise workload and manage time effectively.</li><li>Organised, reliable, and self-motivated.</li><li>Basic understanding of Health &amp; Safety best practices.</li><li>Willingness to undertake relevant training and development.</li><li>Physically able to carry out manual handling tasks (e.g., moving equipment).</li></ul>Desirable:<ul><li>Previous experience in a similar caretaker or facilities role.</li><li>Familiarity with working in an educational or arts environment.</li><li>Basic IT skills for reporting and training purposes.</li><li>Flexibility with what days/times to use the 14 hours per week to cover music centre events</li><li>Driving license and access to a vehicle.</li></ul>We welcome applications from candidates who currently reside in the UK with established proof of right to work documentation.
