Salary, Band C, £9,972 - £11,331 per annum

We are looking to recruit a Central Control Operator to join our Central Control Team working on a night shift basis. The shifts are worked on a 3 week rota basis including weekends and bank holidays. You will need some degree of flexibility in order to complete the training for the role, attend team meetings and provide cover for colleagues within reason; covering other shifts throughout the week at various times of the day or night. The night shift is 22.30 through to 07.15, averaging 20.40 hours per week.

If you enjoy talking to people on the telephone and you are able to stay calm and offer reassurance in a variety of situations, sometimes difficult ones, we would like to hear from you. You will be part of the Council’s Customer Service Team, providing a 24 hour, seven days a week, 365 days a year helpline service to the citizens of North West Leicestershire. We take pride in delivering a speedy and professional response to our customers. We provide a vital link via telecare community alarms for elderly and vulnerable persons who may need assistance by calling on the help of a named contact or the emergency services. We also handle all of the Council’s out of hours emergency calls from people throughout the district, e.g. from tenants for Housing Maintenance or in relation to potentially Dangerous Structures.

The successful candidate will need:

  • Experience of dealing with the public, call centre experience an advantage.
  • Excellent verbal communication skills.
  • To be able to use a range of IT software packages with the ability to analyse information and input data accurately and concisely.
  • Some knowledge of working with older/vulnerable clients and external agencies.
