Our ambitious Corporate Plan means we're going to change the way we operate to make the Council run even more efficiently, delivering high quality services right across the area. This role will allow you to take on a broader scope of work, to build networks with senior contacts and help shape the future of finance at North Norfolk.
As deputy to the Head of Finance and Assets, we will look to you to handle everything from further efficiencies and cost savings to contributing to complete service redesigns. You will provide technical expertise to ensure sound financial management to comply with legislative and accounting codes of practice and with our own governance arrangements. In addition, you'll help produce the medium-term financial strategy. Previous experience of procurement processes and legislation would be an advantage but is not essential.
The role will also see you delivering business cases and costing options to inform our decision making, and building effective relationships with Members and heads of services. We will look to you for finance research, technical policy papers and the latest information on finance developments supported by a strong background within local government finance.
A qualified CCAB accountant, you'll advise on a wide range of financial related issues, which will call on your excellent communication and interpersonal skills. You should also be able to plan, monitor and prioritise workloads, and work well within strict deadlines. Strong all-round accounting skills and year-end reporting experience will be key, and you should be happy to be part of a small, experienced team.
In return, you'll enjoy a package which includes payment for Deputy Section 151 duties and a joining bonus totalling £5,000. We offer employees a friendly working environment, flexible working hours and a final salary pension scheme. North Norfolk District Council is committed to equality and diversity in employment and encourages applications from all sections of the community.
