About the Role
Are you passionate about delivering outstanding customer service and supporting community events? Bourne Hall is looking for a proactive and friendly Events Assistant to help ensure our venue runs smoothly and remains a welcoming space for all visitors, stakeholders, and hirers. This is a hands-on role where no two days are the same. You’ll be setting up for events, assisting with AV and bar services, maintaining the building’s presentation, and supporting both our Coffee Shop and reception when needed. You’ll also work closely with key stakeholders such as the Museum and Library to ensure their needs are met and the venue operates harmoniously.
Key Responsibilities
<ul>
<li>Customer Service: Welcome and assist visitors, providing helpful information and ensuring a positive experience throughout their visit.</li>
<li>Event Setup: Arrange furniture, equipment, and refreshments for meetings, exercise classes, Ad Hoc Special occasions, and community events.</li>
<li>AV Support: Help hirers with audio-visual equipment, including setup and troubleshooting. Report any technical issues.</li>
<li>Cleanliness &amp; Maintenance: Keep the venue clean, tidy, and presentable. Report any maintenance or cleaning issues promptly.</li>
<li>Safety &amp; Security: Carry out health and safety checks, act as a Fire Marshal, and provide first aid when needed.</li>
<li>Venue Security: Open and close the building securely, ensuring all areas are safe and locked appropriately.</li>
<li>Coffee Shop &amp; Bar Work: Step in to support the Coffee Shop operations during busy periods or staff absences. In addition to working the bars at events and supporting catering delivery.</li>
<li>Stakeholder Support: Work collaboratively with internal stakeholders such as the Museum and Library to ensure smooth operations.</li>
<li>Bookings &amp; Admin: Use the Artifax system to check bookings and communicate changes to the Event’s Coordinator.</li>
<li>Reception Cover: Answer phones and assist at reception when required.</li>
<li>IT Systems: Use Microsoft Office and internal systems like Itrent for daily tasks and communication.</li>
<li>Daily Checks: Complete handover and building check sheets to ensure consistency and accountability.</li>
</ul>

We are looking to recruit an Arts and Cultural Development Manager to join the Leisure &amp; Community Development Team at Spelthorne Borough Council.
This is an exciting, broad, and varied role, responsible for managing the Council’s arts and heritage programmes, developing initiatives to inspire the community and increase engagement in the arts and culture. The position is part of a passionate team that puts the community at the heart of everything we do.
It is an exciting time to join Spelthorne’s Leisure and Community Development Team.&nbsp; In 2026 the role will be responsible for delivering the Spelthorne Youth Awards as well as helping to deliver the community engagement strand of Escalate Arts, The Arts Council Funded Partnership initiative looking to increase arts engagement across the borough.
As the Arts and Community Development Manager you will encourage greater collaboration between local arts groups, strengthening the local arts sector.&nbsp; You will work in partnership with key stakeholders, explore funding opportunities and develop initiatives based on existing and emerging needs, setting targets and monitoring outcomes.&nbsp;
You will also be responsible for overseeing management of the Spelthorne Resource Centre acting as the principle point of contact for temporary staff.
We are looking for a highly motivated individual with experience of arts and heritage programming. Someone with a can-do attitude, willingness to work independently and as part of a team, with a passion for community development and the ability to manage casual staff and volunteers.
You will be comfortable working with spreadsheets and databases and be able to interpret and convey complex information in plain English for a variety of audiences.
Please note that this post is identified as a hybrid post supporting both office and home working in line with Spelthorne Borough Council’s policy. The post holder will be required to attend the office in line with a rota and any service requirements.&nbsp; The post requires some evening and weekend work.

This role is expected to provide an efficient and effective service of parking enforcement in our borough car parks, in order to minimise Parking Contraventions through the issue of penalty charge notices in appropriate cases, in accordance with the Council’s objectives, policies and the Parking Order.
