What will you be doing?Permanent part time contract of 5.98 hours per week. WEDNESDAY ONLY - Hours vary seasonally with core summer hours 8:30am until 4:30pm (term time) and 8:30am until 5:30pm (summer holidays) and in Winter 9:45am until 3:30pm (term time) 9:45am until 4:30pm holidays.An exciting opportunity has arisen to join Kent Country Parks as a Visitor Services and Events assistant.You will work in the reception and shop area of the Visitor Centre so that visitors receive a warm and professional welcome, an efficient and helpful response to their needs and a retail experience in line with the Country Park setting.Key responsibilities include:- Manage the reception/information desk providing a public interface, friendly welcome and present a pleasant and helpful manner to the general public at all times. - Provide a basic First Aid point for visitors experiencing problems and to provide a calm and efficient initial response to issues, escalating as needed to other staff- Support the delivery of an annual events programme ensuring customer experience is paramount.- Provide a first class, professional venue hire, birthday party and team building welcome service for all customers- Provide induction training sessions for new users of the Tramper mobility scooters ensuring that they meet the required standard prior to using the vehicles. Carry out routine pre and post hire inspections of the vehicles logging any maintenance requirements.- Manage the stock for the site gift shop- Be responsible for the accurate accounting of all income generated- Ensure that all visitor information enhances the visitor experience and is always accurate and complete.- This role involves daily use of computers and phones so a basic knowledge of computing is required.- A fitness level relevant to the requirements of the job is required. The post does involve lifting boxes and moving stock.This post is considered by KCC to be a customer-facing position. <h3>About the Role</h3>
As a Parking Support Officer, you will:
<ul>
<li>Deliver excellent customer service to the public, handling telephone enquiries, emails, and post in a polite and efficient manner.</li>
<li>Support professional and technical officers within the parking team.</li>
<li>Undertake a wide range of clerical and administrative tasks, including financial processing, using various IT systems.</li>
<li>Manage service requests such as parking permits, season tickets, and dispensations, ensuring accurate data entry and record-keeping.</li>
<li>Participate in the team’s late duty rota and assist with payment processing.</li>
<li>Prepare draft management reports and statistical information for the Parking Support Manager.</li>
<li>Continually seek ways to improve service effectiveness and efficiency.</li>
<li>Ensure compliance with Health and Safety policies and contribute to a positive, customer-oriented team environment.</li>
<li>This is a part-time position. While our strong preference is for the hours to be worked across Monday to Friday to best support the needs of the service, the actual working pattern can be discussed at interview.</li>
</ul>
<h3>About You</h3>
To succeed in this role, you will need:
<ul>
<li>A sound educational background to at least GCSE level (or equivalent) in English and Mathematics.</li>
<li>Excellent communication skills and a friendly, approachable manner.</li>
<li>Experience working in an office-based, customer service environment.</li>
<li>Strong organisational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.</li>
<li>Confidence using Microsoft Office and other IT systems.</li>
<li>A flexible, positive attitude and the ability to handle enquiries of a sensitive or challenging nature.</li>
<li>An understanding of good customer care practice and equality and diversity issues&nbsp;</li>
