About the Role
Pottery - Experienced Production Throwing Facilitator. Are you an experienced potter with a passion for sharing your craft? We are looking for an enthusiastic and skilled Ceramics Facilitator to join our Adult Education team, delivering high-quality instruction in Production Throwing on the potter’s wheel.
This is an exciting opportunity to inspire and support adult learners as they develop advanced production throwing skills in a welcoming and professionally equipped pottery department. You will lead a hands-on, practical course focused on advancing students’ throwing techniques and helping them become confident, independent makers. Learners are typically adults with prior experience in ceramics and a strong foundation in wheel throwing.
About You
Plan and deliver engaging, learner-centered sessions in production throwing
Facilitate advanced techniques in throwing, turning, decoration, and glaze application
Support students in creating high-quality, individual ceramic pieces
Promote safe studio practice and ensure compliance with Health & Safety regulations
Provide constructive feedback and encouragement to support learner progress
Maintain accurate records of learner attendance, progress, and achievements
Requirements
Advanced skills in ceramics, particularly wheel throwing and finishing techniques
Teaching or workshop facilitation experience (ideally with adult learners)
Ability to plan, deliver, and assess structured learning sessions
Strong communication skills and a supportive teaching approach
Knowledge of glaze application and basic ceramic decoration techniques
Awareness of Health & Safety in a studio or workshop setting
