Islington is one of the most exciting and dynamic parts of London and is experiencing rapid growth in housing and employment. The Council has adopted ambitious planning policies to ensure that all our communities benefit from this growth whilst protecting and enhancing Islington’s unique character. A well-resourced Development Management Service is needed to support the Council in achieving these challenges. We are therefore looking to strengthen service delivery by recruiting a Deputy Team Manager in the Enforcement Team. You must be able to work creatively and constructively with complainants, applicants and the local community to ensure that the council’s planning priorities are delivered. You must be able to manage and deliver high quality outcomes in a timely manner. You must also be able to manage the large and challenging case loads of the team and undertake a wide range of management duties. You will seek to resolve unlawful development undertaken in the Borough and play an important role in delivering for the Service which will attract much attention from external groups, senior officers and elected members. You should have an innovative and creative way of working and embrace measures available to deliver successful enforcement. You should ensure that you deliver a high level of satisfaction to everyone who uses the Development Management Service.
