Waltham Forest is vibrant and distinctive, making it a fantastic place to live, work, explore and invest. With more green space than any borough north of the Thames and great transport connections to the city and beyond, it’s a place that people want to call home.
We are working at pace to deliver our Redefining Waltham Forest 2020 vision and Economic Growth Strategy that sees 12,000 new homes by 2020 along with the essential services required to accommodate our new and existing residents. We want to protect and conserve our heritage, ignite our creativity, and invest in new infrastructure to help improve the lives of our residents.
To enable us to deliver a step change for this part of East London we need a team that is resident-focused, insight-led, digitally-driven and commercially-minded.
We are looking for Deputy Team Leaders to assist our Planning Managers to deliver a professional, cost-effective and high quality development management service.
You will be an experienced Development Management Planner either already in a deputy team leader role or looking for the next step in your career. Ideally you will have some experience of managing staff. You must be able to form strong collaborative working relationships with a range of public and private sector stakeholders and have excellent writing skills. Ideally you will have presented to committees and have some experience with signing off junior officers work. We offer a great opportunity to develop your career with a positive approach to development and a desire to put sustainable development policies into practice.

We use our statutory duties on race, gender and disability equality and best practice in respect of age, faith and sexual orientation to ensure equality of opportunity in the workplace.
The Council is committed to meeting its 4 strategic outcomes contained within the Waltham Forest Council Equality Plan 2012/2015:
• Promoting equality of opportunity
• Opposing all forms of discrimination, intolerance and disadvantage
• Ensuring our workforce reflects the diverse communities of Waltham Forest at all levels
• Providing fair, appropriate, accessible and excellent services to all.
Respecting Diversity is a core Council value.
