Our Story:

Halton is a vibrant local authority with a rich history and heritage, featuring two iconic bridges that connect communities across the River Mersey. Located in Cheshire, Halton boasts excellent transport links between Liverpool and Manchester, as well as close proximity to both Liverpool John Lennon and Manchester Airports.

Our progressive community strategy aims to bring about meaningful, long-term improvements that enhance lives. It’s an exciting time to join us as we develop new policies and transform the way people access services.

We are immensely proud that when asked what’s great about working for Halton, the most popular response from our workforce has been ‘our colleagues’.

Our Team:

Halton Supported Housing Network is a group of 19 houses across Runcorn and Widnes, providing accommodation and support for adults with learning and physical disabilities in the community. We are putting people first and focusing on what people with a disability can do as oppose to what they cannot; supporting people in such a diverse way is one of the main reasons why Halton Supported Housing Network has won national awards.

We believe that people with a disability should be the drivers in their lives not the passengers; therefore, person centered support workers need to support and engage people to take the lead in living in their own homes. The service has multiple vacancies for committed individuals to act in the capacity of Support Worker, promoting people with disabilities to engage in all aspects of their daily living and linking into meaningful opportunities within their local community. The ability to drive and be flexible at all times is desirable.

The role will include working alongside people who at times can display behavior that can be challenging. Ideally, but not essential you will have NVQ qualifications in Adult Social Care and experience in working with physical disabilities and personal care. This is a lone working post, and you should therefore be comfortable working on this basis. This is a challenging but extremely rewarding role.

Hours: Various rotas to be discussed at interview so whatever your situation we feel we could have the right position for you, to enable you to enjoy a positive work/life balance. Rota's may include work at weekends, bank holidays and some sleep-in duties. Additional enhancements for unsociable hours worked are payable.

Your Contributions:
• Supporting individuals to live independently in their community helping them achieve the objectives identified in their Person-Centred Plan

• Administer, record and store medication according to HBC medication policy

• Ensure all persons are safeguarded and are always supported by following risk assessments that are in place in relation to any challenging behavior, including planned and unplanned care

• Support tenants to prepare meals, undertake household tasks including self-care.

• Be open, honest and transparent at all times

Our Offer:

Aside from working with a great team, our employees have access to a fantastic range of benefits, including:

• A generous annual holiday allowance starting at 34 days per year (including bank holidays), increasing with long service

• Membership of our defined benefit, salary-linked Local Government Pension Scheme (LGPS) with generous employer contributions

• 3 x Salary Life Cover via Local Government Pension Scheme

• Investment in your personal development

• Free Car Parking at HBC sites

• Extensive employee benefits platform including discounted shopping, car leasing, gym memberships, wellbeing hub and Employee Assistance Programme.
