Experience the extraordinary with a move to Folkestone & Hythe District Council (F&HDC).
Ranked in the Sunday Times as one of the best places to live in the UK, and in Lonely Planet as one of the best places to visit in the world, Folkestone & Hythe is a dynamic and innovative place to live, work and visit.
While our purpose built control centre is in the heart of Folkestone, with easy access to transport links, local shops, entertainment facilities and the seafront, we have an agile working culture that supports and encourages flexible and home working where possible. Recognised by Best Companies as an outstanding organisation to work for, we have a real focus on supporting career development, wellbeing and family friendly initiatives, and a hybrid agile working culture that enables flexible and remote/home working. You can also expect an excellent benefits package that includes corporate memberships, discount and salary sacrifice schemes, reimbursement of professional membership fees, up to 31 days holiday, access to the Local Government Pension Scheme, and much, much more. There has never been a better time to make the move to Folkestone & Hythe.
We are currently seeking to recruit a dedicated and professional Control Centre Operator. The working environment is a busy 24 hour Control Centre, where the team monitor Lifeline Clients and deal with out of hour’s duty officer calls. We are there to provide support, advice and action an emergency response should the call demand it.
The service operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. You will need to be flexible and work a range of shifts on a rota basis, including night shifts.
While previous Control Centre experience is not necessarily essential, you will certainly need to have some administrative and customer service experience, particularly over the telephone. Attention to detail is critical and you will have the ability to operate on your own initiative, taking a pro-active approach to problem solving and responsibility for resolving issues. But above all else you will possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills and be as passionate about a customer oriented approach as we are.
