Our Early Years Educator Apprenticeship Pathway consists of an exciting 2 year opportunity working within Archway Children’s Centre, where you will help to ensure every child has the best start in life. Alongside your work, you will study to achieve a Level 3 Early Years Educator qualification. The Job - Working as a Children’s Centre Apprentice you will: • Work across all areas of the nursery with children from birth to five years; • Assist in observation, assessment and recording of each child’s progress; • Supervise meal times and assist with preparing babies bottles, meals and snacks; • Attend to children’s personal care needs throughout the day ensuring that the child is respected and safe at all times; • Be responsible for maintaining a clean and safe environment for the children, staff and parents, ensuring the cleanliness and maintenance of the playrooms and equipment; • Work as part of a team, supporting the room leader; • Ensure confidentiality is maintained in the nursery; • Take part in planning and running exciting and stimulating activities that contribute to the observation and assessment of each child’s developmental progress; • Build strong relationships with your own team, parents and other specialists to ensure each child can reach their potential; • Build on your existing communication skills, gain invaluable experience and build your self-confidence through your day-to-day workplace activities; Training and Development – Within your role you will: • Complete a level 3 Early Years Educator qualification funded by the Council. This will involve attendance at a college and/or completing tasks and observations in the workplace (depending on specific course requirement); • Join the Apprenticeship personal and professional development programme that will involve a series of varied development activities and events throughout your year with the Council. Moving on After you have successfully completed your apprenticeship you will have gained valuable workplace experience and attained a professional qualification which will improve your chances of finding work either within the Children’s Centre or with another employer or help you move on to a higher level apprenticeship elsewhere. You will have networked across the service and be aware of the internal job market during your time with us and we will provide support on your approach to the wider job market as part of your development programme. This apprenticeship is ideal for people who have excellent communication skills, a ‘can-do’ attitude and are passionate about children’s wellbeing. To apply for this apprenticeship, you must: • Be a 16+ Islington resident, Islington care leaver or former Islington secondary school student.
