As a Neighbourhood Coastal Warden you will be assisting in providing a high quality foreshore service on behalf of Adur & Worthing Councils.</p>\n<p>You will have a meticulous approach and promote our foreshore and inshore waters between Ferring (to the west) and Shoreham (to the east) along with our iconic pier. You will be carrying out daily safety, compliance and environmental reconnaissance patrols on quad bikes or on foot and in the summer months on a safety vessel.</p>\n<p>You will ideally have a maritime or conservation background and hold an RYA PWC and VHF SRC certificate, along with a full driving Licence (B+E categories). You will also have a high level of fitness and possess an ML5 Marine Medical certificate or be able to obtain one during your probationary period. You will also be required to participate in a twice yearly fitness assessment.</p>\n<p>As an additional service to the Coastguard you will regularly work in liaison with the emergency services and at times the conservation sector to provide a dedicated and professional service in which to enhance and protect our environment and provide foreshore users with a high quality seafront asset.</p>\n<p>You will also deal with all types of emergencies such as missing persons, suspected ordnance, mammal strandings, injured or deceased wildlife, spillages and reacting to weather events. You will be practical, level headed, robust and be calm yet resolute under pressure.</p>\n<p>You will also be working with community groups and other stakeholders who use and visit our beaches on environmentally driven projects and initiatives alongside local people, contractors, elected members and other agencies to improve the beach and coastal environment. You will also assist in helping ensure our extensive foreshore events programme is successful, therefore ensuring that our foreshore and inshore waters are well used by tourists and local residents.</p>\n<p>You will work an annualised work pattern working a rotational 40 hours per week 5 days on and 2 days off during the summer (1st April to 30th September) and a four days on and four days off shift pattern of 7 hours per day during the winter (1st October to 31st March. The average is 32.1 hours per week and you will be expected to work weekends and public holidays as they fall on a rotational basis.
