We are seeking 2 highly motivated, organised and committed individuals to fill the posts of Exchequer Assistant in our Exchequer Services Section within our Resources Department at Lancaster City Council.
Exchequer Services oversees the Council’s Income Management, Debt Management, Creditor Administration and Payroll processes.
The post-holder will provide support for key functions within the team. This includes processing payments and providing advice, training and support to officers across the Council on corporate payment procedures and the use of associated systems.
With a commitment to providing high quality customer service, you will also be IT literate, numerate, organised and be adept at using software applications and systems.
You should have the ability to work accurately, be a team player with excellent communication and interpersonal skills and demonstrate integrity. If you have a positive can-do attitude, the ability to learn quickly and to embrace change then your profile is match for the attributes we look are looking for.
Previous experience would be an advantage, but not essential as this full-time post is also offered as an AAT Apprenticeship. This provides an excellent opportunity for entry-level step to a career in accountancy via an apprenticeship route and we have a proven track record. Please note if offered as an apprenticeship the salary would be £6.83 per hour.

The hours of work for this position are 37 hours per week, working Monday to Friday (including time off for study if applicable). This post is subject to the flexible working polices and arrangements in place at Lancaster City Council.
The Council currently operates an excellent Flexible Working Hours Scheme which allows for a healthy work-life balance. The post will be based at Lancaster Town Hall but we now operate a hybrid working scheme which allows for flexibility on a day to day basis with regards to your work location.
