 About the role
We have an exciting opportunity for you to join our Education Access Team.

This role will provide operational management of the Elective Home Education (EHE) and responsibilities in liaison with the Education Access Team Manager, and Head of Education Access and Support
 Key responsibilities:
<ul>
<li>Implement robust safeguarding procedures and apply local threshold of need to cases of pupil welfare concerns, making appropriate safeguarding referrals as necessary</li>
<li>Triage and provide advisory support to EHE queries from members of the public, colleagues and key partners</li>
<li>Collate and analyse information on EHE through interactions with schools and other stakeholders, tracking provision, escalating issues of a strategic nature to the Education Access Team Manager, maintaining a central register of all children known to Reading who are in receipt of EHE</li>
<li>Conduct welfare checks and home visits with families to ensure sighting and delivery of children where there are EHE and/or safeguarding concerns for children out of school (including lone working)</li>
<li>Maintain records for children not receiving a suitable education and support timely reintegration, escalating those of concern to the Education Access Team Manager</li>
<li>Contribute to meetings with schools, families and partners regarding potential Elective Home Education</li>
<li>To visit families engaged in EHE and offer advice when requested and as set out in government guidance in policy, including statutory annual contact for each child on the register carrying out an assessment of suitability of education provided as defined by law</li>
<li>To work in partnership with schools and partner organisations (e.g. Attendance Support Team, Special Education Needs and Disabilities Team, Elevate, Health) in relation to EHE pupils</li>
<li>To contribute to the development of the Reading policy, procedures and practice through review, monitoring and self-evaluation</li>
</ul>
 Experience/skills required.
<ul>
<li>Educated to an A-Level standard or equivalent</li>
<li>Good GCSE or equivalent passes, especially in English and Maths</li>
<li>Knowledge of current Education legislation including School Attendance, Safeguarding and Elective Home Education</li>
<li>Good working knowledge of child protection and safeguarding processes, procedures and thresholds</li>
<li>Relevant professional qualification (e.g. Qualified teacher status, social work) with membership of appropriate professional body where relevant (e.g. GTC, HCPC) or NVQ level 4 in relevant field (e.g. Education Welfare, Learning Mentor or substantial experience as an Learning Support Assistant desirable</li>

As an Assistant SEND Officer (Tribunals), you&nbsp;will be responsible for supporting the Resolutions and Tribunals Officers to deliver statutory assessments of children and young people. This will involve requesting and collating evidence, liaising with families and professionals, creating and updating electronic records using Capita ONE (our case management system), Microsoft Word and Excel and other software.
As an Assistant SEND Officer (Tribunals) you will draw on your excellent written and spoken English as the work involves significant amounts of writing emails and letters and working with families and professionals in- person, in virtual meetings and on the telephone. You will have strong administrative skills as well as previous experience in similar posts.
This is a diverse and busy role where no two days are ever the same. Whether working in the office, side by side with colleagues, or some days from home, you will be fully inducted and supported.
You will be enthusiastic, flexible, confident and reliable, whilst seeking a rewarding role.
As a successful applicant you should have a ‘can-do’ approach, good organisational skills and the ability to multi-task with a high level of accuracy. Excellent communication skills and discretion are essential.

<h3>Key responsibilities...</h3>

<li>You will be responsible for supporting the Resolutions and Tribunals Officer to collate and file fully indexed tribunal bundles: requesting and collating evidence, liaising with families and professionals, creating and updating electronic records using Capita ONE (our case management system), Microsoft Word and Excel and other software.</li>
<li>Provide high quality confidential support in relation to coordination, administration, and implementation of all aspects of the SEND Team’s work.</li>
<li>Ensure email and telephone communications are responded to swiftly, and that accurate records of all communications are maintained centrally, issuing high-quality written correspondence at all times.</li>
<li>Making arrangements for meetings, workshops and other events.</li>
<li>Collate the timely preparation and circulation of meeting papers, action notes and following up on action points.</li>
<li>Coordinate and provide administrative support in delivery of the team’s response to Freedom of Information (FOI’s) and Subject Access Requests (SARs).</li>

Dinton Activity Centre is a thriving local authority centre based with Dinton Pastures Country Park. The centre handles a footfall of around 20,000 people per year, so the place is very much alive during peak season. We have a fleet of 30 sailing boats and 90 canoes, kayaks and paddle boards. On land we have a low ropes course, bush craft area, a rock climbing and high ropes facility, two orienteering courses and a mobile climbing tower.&nbsp;
