Additional Learning Support
The Additional Learning Support (ALS) Department has opportunities for suitably experienced Learning Support Assistants to support a cohort of students who are studying a range of Level 1, 2, and 3 vocational programmes including English and Maths. The role will involve supporting SEN learners in and out of class on a 1:1 and small group basis. Successful candidates will also be expected to support students to raise their employability prospects and will have high aspirations for our ALS learners’ achievement and destination outcomes.&nbsp;
The successful candidates should have an active interest in education and supporting young people with Special Education Needs. The role involves supporting teachers in class to ensure that class activities and tasks are accessible to all our learners and promotes inclusivity. The ideal candidates are dynamic, driven and creative, and ambitious for all of their students to achieve and progress. You will actively assist in adding value to our student’s skillset whilst they are at UCG as well as being committed to being a proactive and solution-focused member of the ALS team. You should scaffold learning for students whilst also supporting them to develop their independence and own critical thinking.
Excellent communication, administration and interpersonal skills are essential in this role, alongside a student-centered and solution-focused attitude. A commitment to working effectively as part of a team and to make positive and innovative contributions are also essential in this role. The role includes completing detailed records of work that are regularly reviewed and used to support reports and annual review documentation as well as other administrative duties.
UCG are looking for individuals who have the ability to remain calm under pressure and be patient and maintain a positive attitude towards students, with an understanding of procedures for safeguarding young people and vulnerable adults.
&nbsp;You will have good communication skills including the ability to use clear language and communicate and listen effectively, also to provide an excellent level of additional support to individuals and groups of students on the autistic spectrum, with profound and complex needs or with challenging behaviour needs. You will have the opportunity to under go training and develop specialist practice.

As a Lecturer in Social Care, you will develop and maintain up to date industry knowledge, bringing in industry professionals, where possible, that are relevant to the curriculum and the employability and skills needs of students. You will support and motivate learners to meet their individual aspiration and goals and will coordinate the tracking of learners’ achievements. In your role you will lead study programmes to attain outstanding achievement and student retention and progression.&nbsp;
You will have sound organisational skills, your ability to work cooperatively and contribute positively and creatively to a team is also essential. &nbsp;

Job Title: NDORS Driver Training Officers Starting Salary: £34,434&nbsp;progressing to £37,280 The Council contribution to your LGPS pension is 19.6% of your actual pensionable pay Hours: 37.0 Location: Stevenage Contract Type: Permanent Directorate: Growth &amp; Environment<h4>About the team</h4>NDORS trainers specialise in delivering training courses on behalf of police forces across the UK. It is well established team and is subject to ongoing development as an integral part of the delivery to promote road safety, reducing accidents on Hertfordshire roads.<h4>About the role</h4>National Driver Offenders Retraining Scheme (NDORS) courses are governed by UKROED and delivered by Hertfordshire County Council (HCC) on behalf of Hertfordshire Police. HCC are one of many Course Providers across the UK and delivers several education and training activities that must adhere to national models.HCC are looking to recruit Trainers to join our team in Hertfordshire and are looking for both practical and theory trainers.Trainers will be delivering the following courses in both virtual and physical classrooms across Hertfordshire.<ul><li>National Speed Awareness Course - Theory</li><li>National Motorway Awareness Course - Theory</li><li>Safe and Considerate Driving Course – Theory and Practical Trainers</li><li>What’s Driving Us? – Theory</li><li>National Rider Risk Awareness Course (NRRAC) – Theory</li></ul>These roles contribute to our broader aims for encouraging responsible driver/rider behaviour as a mechanism to reduce road crash casualties. An evolving role with new work streams in the future team plan.<ul><li>Development and delivery of Road Safety initiatives and training courses.</li><li>Deliver driver assessments and assess assessors.</li><li>Review and update current practices and procedures.</li></ul><h4>About you</h4>Essential criteria:<ul><li>You must have excellent teaching or coaching skills and be able to deliver courses both physically in venues across Hertfordshire as well as online via a digital platform (currently Zoom).</li><li>Hold a training or teaching qualification.</li><li>You will be an existing NDORS licenced Trainer.</li><li>Training will be provided by NDORS Licenced Instructors and regular monitoring provided by our own HCC internal monitors.</li><li>Trainers will be required to deliver courses across 6 days from 08:00 – 21:00.</li><li>There are also opportunities for NDORS instructor training as well as internal monitoring training.</li><li>SCD practical trainer – DVSA registered ADI at a minimum of grade B.</li><li>Hold a behaviour change qualification.</li></ul>Desirable:<ul><li>Fleet licence</li><li>Approved Driving Instructor licence (ADI).</li><li>RoSPA Silver or Gold award.</li><li>Assessors qualification.</li></ul>This job role is within the Community Services, level COM9 job profile.
