They are looking for an experienced electoral services officer to join the electoral services team. They have modern open plan offices and smart working practices and the technology to support mobile working.  Position: Electoral Services Officer  Location: Milton Park, Oxfordshire  Job Type: Full Time, Permanent  Hours: 37 hours per week  Salary: £28,119 to 33,225 per year  Benefits: A basic 23 days annual leave per annum, rising to 28 days after five years. Flexible working and annualised hours; pension scheme; childcare voucher scheme; car lease scheme; free parking.  About the role:  The electoral services officer will support the electoral services team leader to deliver all the functions of electoral services across both district councils.  Responsibilities:  - Help formulate and thereafter to deliver the objectives set out in the service and improvement plan  - Assist with the effective day to day operation of the electoral services function  - Provide expert advice to members of the public, politicians and senior officers on electoral registration and election legislation  - Ensure the on-going maintenance of the electoral register, including data mining and data matching exercises, inviting potential electors to register, confirmation / verification of applicants, reviews and objections, exceptions and attestations  - Responsible for the annual declaration processes and maintenance of absent voting records including reviews of personal identifiers  - Assist with the planning, organisation, project management and risk assessment of all elements of national and local elections / referenda ensuring compliance with all relevant statutory and regulatory requirements  - Assist with the management of the opening of postal votes for all elections and referenda  - Assist with the appointment, training and supervision of temporary staff for elections and electoral registration canvassing  - Ensure all statutory obligations are met  - Act as systems administrator for the electoral registration and elections computer software system  - Participate in the review of electoral arrangements, including boundary reviews and reviews of polling districts and polling places and ensure the accurate implementation of any changes  - Deal with the more complex and sensitive correspondence, telephone and personal enquiries on registration and election matters  - Investigate and produce draft responses to complaints relating to the electoral services function  About you:  - Five GCSEs or equivalent  - Full driving licence and access to a vehicle insured for business use  - Working knowledge of eXpress or another electoral management system  - Experience in administration including report writing and interpretation of complex documents, legislation and procedures  - Experience of working an electoral services team  - Understanding and knowledge of the working practices of electoral services (electoral registration and elections)  - Experience of council decision making processes  - Good written and oral communication skills  - Experience of responding to queries from the public and giving advice  - ICT literate - use of MS word, excel and PowerPoint  - Ability to research concepts / projects with minimal supervision  - Ability to work with councillors, colleagues and external organisations to foster good working relationships at all levels  - Must be able to work additional hours during busy periods in the run up to elections (evenings and some weekends)  If you have the following experience or qualifications – it’s a bonus:  - AEA certificate in electoral registration and electoral administration (or willingness to work towards achieving it)  You may have experience of the following: Electoral Services Officer, Administrator, Admin Assistant, Office Administrator, Office Assistant, Electoral Services, Electoral Officer, Electoral Services Administrator etc.  This vacancy is being advertised by EasyWeb Recruitment, the UK’s leading Online Recruitment Agency.
