We're seeking a proactive and adaptable individual to join our team and make a real difference within our communities.&nbsp;
Role Overview: &nbsp;
You will be responding to customer concerns over their accommodation and proactively improving their housing conditions by obtaining the necessary repairs and improvements. Given the proposals in the Renters Rights Bill, a more proactive enforcement approach will be essential for this role. HMO licencing of properties will be undertaken, along with the investigations of any condition breaches.&nbsp;
You will also administer a small number of complex DFGs which promote independence within the homes of disabled and vulnerable residents. You must be able to form relationships with other council teams such as Housing Advice, as well as customers, contractors, landlords and other agencies to ensure housing conditions are improved and grants are provided in a timely manner.&nbsp;
 Key Responsibilities: &nbsp;

Proactively investigate and carry out inspections relating to housing standards including those relating to the licensing of Houses in Multiple Occupation and responding to complaints about housing conditions in both the private rented and social housing sectors.&nbsp;

Apply the appropriate enforcement legislation to ensure compliance is obtained in relation to housing standards.&nbsp;

Deliver grant assistance via the West Sussex Disabled Facilities Grants Policy, including Disabled Facility Grants, in a timely manner by supporting the customer through the application process and ensuring the customer at the end of the process has the much-needed adaptation along with receiving a high-quality experience.&nbsp;

Liaise with our planning team to provide housing standard advice on applications.&nbsp;
</li>
</ul>
<ul>
<li>
Work with other staff and management of the friendly and successful Housing Standards team, to ensure the team continuously delivers the highest quality environmental health services to our customers.&nbsp;

</ul>
Qualifications and Skills: &nbsp;
<ul>
<li>
A degree (BSc/MSc) or diploma in Environmental Health.&nbsp;
</li>
</ul>
<ul>
<li>
Hold the Housing Health and Safety Rating System (HHSRS) competency certificate.&nbsp;
</li>
</ul>
<ul>
<li>
Up to date expert technical knowledge of construction and implement this knowledge through recently carrying out inspections and applying current housing standards.&nbsp;
</li>
</ul>
<ul>
<li>
Ability to interpret specialist information e.g. technical plans/drawings and specifications.&nbsp;
</li>
</ul>
<ul>
<li>
Good organisational skills and able to manage workload in an efficient, effective manner.&nbsp;
</li>
</ul>

Ability to communicate effectively in writing and orally to members, officers and the public.&nbsp;

Are you ready to help shape the future of biodiversity in Arun? The Climate Change and Sustainability Team is launching an exciting new initiative, and we’re looking for a passionate, forward-thinking&nbsp;Habitat Banking Project Officer&nbsp;to lead the way.
This is a&nbsp;fantastic opportunity&nbsp;to help the Council unlock the potential of its greenspace land through&nbsp;Biodiversity Net Gain (BNG). Creating thriving habitats while generating sustainable income on council owned land. You’ll be at the forefront of a movement that blends environmental innovation with strategic land management.
Please note that this is a two year fixed-term post.
Your mission: 
<ul>
<li>Design and deliver Arun District Council’s first Habitat Banking Strategy, in line with national and local policy.</li>
<li>Establish and manage habitat banks on Council owned land, working collaboratively across departments including finance, legal, planning, estates and parks.</li>
<li>Market and sell BNG credits, ensuring competitive pricing and a deep understanding of the habitat banking landscape and development needs across Arun.</li>
<li>Drive income generation through the sale of these offsite BNG credits to developers and other interested stakeholders.</li>
<li>Champion engagement by raising awareness and building partnership internally and externally to support habitat banking.</li>
<li>Explore wider ecosystem service opportunities, helping the Council lead on nature-based solutions for climate resilience and environmental enhancement.</li>
</ul>
This is a&nbsp;hybrid role, and due to the work being required there will be a minimum of two days per week in the Civic Centre in Littlehampton.
