Bourne Hall Museum&nbsp;is seeking a highly organised and knowledgeable Assistant to work alongside the Curator on our museum collections and the stories they tell. The successful candidate will be responsible for assisting in meticulous care and documentation of the collections, public engagement, conducting thorough research, planning and organizing formal education provision, exhibition development and supporting volunteers.
Key responsibilities include processing new acquisitions to the museum collections, controlling the removal and return of items to the museum and monitoring conditions in the museum stores. The assistant responds to enquiries about the collections, researches and writes text for exhibitions. A major art of the role is to assist in enhancing public engagement by developing and delivering programmes that engage schools, local communities, and visitors with the museum collections and its stories. This includes providing talks and guided walks for schoolchildren and adults, administering school loan boxes and talks, establishing contact with schoolteachers, co-ordinating children’s extracurricular learning activities and running the children’s club. Additionally, they will work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders.
We are looking for a candidate with demonstrated experience of working in a museum or cultural setting. The ideal candidate will possess exceptional organisational and engagement skills, and the ability to work effectively on their own initiative as well as within a diverse team, Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, are essential. Joint Waste Solutions - Assistant Monitoring Officer (East)
Are you looking for an exciting new opportunity tackling environmental issues?
This role will help support the management of the joint waste collection and street cleansing contract, driving service improvements and helping residents to understand the recycling service, overcoming any issues they may experience and avoid contaminating their recycling.
At Joint Waste Solutions (JWS), there is an East operations team, managing the services in Elmbridge and Mole Valley and a West operations team who manage services for Surrey Heath and Woking Borough Councils.
In this position, you will play a key role in ensuring the safety of the public by checking the service providers’ staff are complying with the safe systems of work and by conducting crew checks. While ensuring civic pride through monitoring street cleaning, reporting defective levels of cleanliness, and following up to ensure the issue has been rectified.&nbsp;&nbsp;
The successful candidate will have experience of monitoring contracts and using performance management systems as well as experience of providing a good standard of customer care. An understanding of environmental issues as well as a knowledge of health and safety legislation is beneficial but not essential. You’ll need excellent verbal and written communications skills, be able to get involved in a range of projects and deliver them to deadline, as well as a methodological approach to information gathering, recording and reporting.
This vacancy with the East Operations team (Elmbridge and Mole Valley) is a full time position of 37 hours, on a fixed term basis for 12-months, with the possibility of an extension beyond that point.
