Enterprise Zone Programme Manager

£44,588 to £47,715 a year

37 hours a week

Newhaven is a strategically important working port town which faces a number of challenges and opportunities. These include pockets of high unemployment and low skills; a weak economic base associated with the decline in traditional port and related manufacturing industries; and some poor quality commercial property.

At the same time, Newhaven has a real opportunity for growth, with money being committed through the Greater Brighton City Deal and Local Growth Funding to improve flood defences in the town, build a new Port Access Road, and a number of other developments that are currently under way.

Newhaven Enterprise Zone commenced in April 2017 and is forecast to create around 55,000m² of new commercial floorspace, refurbish a further 15,000m² of commercial floorspace and create / sustain around 2,000 jobs over the zone’s 25-year lifespan across eight key sites. The Enterprise Zone is led by Lewes District Council and Coast to Capital Local Enterprise Partnership, highlighting its strategic importance to the regional economy.

Lewes District Council is seeking an Enterprise Zone Programme Manager to lead on co-ordinating the delivery of new investment, employment and business support services within the Enterprise Zone. You will work to secure stakeholder engagement in project and programme development and delivery, working alongside in-house professionals, external consultants, partners, landowners and businesses. This will involve regular liaison with the government departments, the Local Enterprise Partnerships and all levels of local government, as well as managing governance arrangements for the established Programme Board.

The successful applicant will have substantial experience of managing complex funding projects involving public sector and private sector investment. They will also have excellent partnership and networking skills and the ability to gain the trust of a wide range of people and organisations.

The closing date for this post will be noon on Monday 21st August 2017.

Interviews will be held on Thursday 31st August 2017.
