The Board of Governors at Belmont Park School are looking for a dynamic and creative Headteacher to lead our dedicated and enthusiastic staff, someone who can drive the school to outstanding, while retaining the school’s warmth and celebration of children’s special educational needs.
This is an exciting opportunity to lead a small SEMH Special school within the Borough of Waltham Forest and see your vision unfold as part of a community.
Achieving this requires a hands-on headteacher, able to lead by example and to relate to a diverse student and staff community, as well as someone able to see the opportunities to maximise the use of our outstanding facilities to create innovative learning experiences tailored to individual needs.
Our young people are looking for a head teacher who is visible, approachable and genuinely cares about their wellbeing. They want someone who believes in their potential, sets high aspirations for their personal and academic growth, and supports them regardless of their background or any challenges they face.
As governors, we know how far the school has come, and also have a clear sense of what we want to achieve in the future. So, we are looking for a leader who can deliver great outcomes for students, whatever the challenges they might face. More than this, we want a leader who can help the school fulfil its potential and secure its position as a regional centre of top quality provision for students with significant SEMH needs and other challenges.
You will be joining a staff team who are committed to providing an inclusive education for all. There is scope in the role to develop expertise within the school around neurodivergent needs, SEMH and outstanding teaching and learning.
ABOUT BELMONT PARK
The School’s motto is Dream Believe Achieve currently serves the needs of up to 87 young people with varied life experiences and backgrounds, including those who have overcome adversity and faced significant challenges. It is our mission to help them engage with education through caring relationships that build trust and create a safe, supportive environment for students and staff. These young people need everyone in their school to believe in them and to nurture them through the range of barriers impacting their current engagement and potential outcomes.
We measure progress on a holistic basis: supporting the staff to deliver excellent lessons and interventions with a focus on learning and achievement, but also looking beyond the test and understanding that, on difficult days, Belmont is as much a place of refuge as it is of learning. Indeed, these are often inseparable.
If you are put off by challenge, or change, or working with students that need much more than high quality teaching, then this job isn’t for you. But if you are driven, passionate about supporting young people, excited by leading through change, working with a small, high calibre staff team and a committed, grounded and diverse governing body, then we would very much like to have an application from you.
Belmont Park School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. The successful candidate will be subject to Disclosure and Barring Service checks along with other relevant employment checks.
Please note that you will only be contacted if you are shortlisted for an interview.
Application Closes: Noon Monday 7 October 2024 and should be returned to SchoolsHR.Helpdesk@walthamforest.gov.uk
Interview Process: Wednesday 16th and Thursday 17th October.
Visits to the school are warmly welcomed and encouraged. Please email Louise Constantine to arrange an appointment time on SchoolsHR.Helpdesk@walthamforest.gov.uk
