The Role
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a permanent 18.5-hour Adult Social Care Worker/ Social Worker to work alongside Deaf/Deafblind people in North Somerset. If you are a qualified Social Worker, the starting salary would be commensurate of your Social Work qualification.
Based within the well-established and supportive Single Point of Access Team in the Town Hall, Weston-super-Mare, your overarching remit will be to work alongside the Deaf community across North Somerset, working with Deaf people with British Sign language as their first language.

Valid driving licence and own transport, or be able to provide alternative, suitable method of travel is an essential condition for this role.
This role will include development opportunities to understand the Deaf Community and their needs currently and into the future.
As an Adult Social Care Worker / Social Worker, you will work within key legislative frameworks including the Care Act 2014 and the Mental Capacity Act 2005.
Part of your role will be to undertake Care Act Assessments, drawing up care plans with individuals, identifying their strengths and person-centred outcomes. You will complete Mental Capacity Assessments and be involved in Best Interest Decision making where appropriate.
We will utilise your transferable skills and provide training to enable you to promote the rights and choices of people with care and support needs, you will support people to identify and build upon their existing assets as well as access new resources to meet their identified outcomes. This can include supporting positive risk to promote independence, safety, and wellbeing of the Deaf community.
