About You
The Faculty of Creative Industries has an opportunity for a Part Time Lecturer in Performing and Production Arts.
This role requires a dynamic, proactive and creative individual who can implement high quality teaching, learning and assessment, as well as effectively support students in a pastoral capacity.
You will have the freedom to produce your own schemes of work, within the context of a thriving Performing Arts department with a focus on designing curriculum projects which aim to:
The ideal candidate will have a background in theatre, particularly in acting, however candidates with wider skillsets in other areas of Performing Arts are encouraged to apply. Knowledge and experience of the Production Arts, would be an asset to our team. The ideal candidate will have suitable industry and academic knowledge, with a commitment to making routes into industry more accessible for all learners.
The role requires collaborative planning, assessment supervision, and academic/pastoral guidance. We run the UAL Diploma qualifications which allow lecturers to design projects that suit their specialisms and interests, as well as to bespoke the curriculum to suit the learners' abilities, interests and destinations. This freedom allows us to engage with a vast array of industry practitioners and HE institutions (LAMDA, Fourth Monkey, True Edge, National Theatre Connections, Old Vic, Little Angel Theatre etc), and the chosen candidate would have opportunities to include industry engagement in their curriculum design and teaching practice.
The chosen candidate would have the benefit of working in fantastic facilities, consisting of a large theatre spaced which can be converted into two smaller studios including a black box space, and a mirrored studio with sprung floor. The candidate would also have the opportunity to build and develop exciting links with professional industry organisations; the department currently has links with HE organisations such as LAMDA, and industry organisations such as the National Theatre Connections, The Old Vic, True Edge and Little Angel Theatre. Staff within the department are encouraged to use our links to develop the curriculum, as well as build new relationships with industry to further improve the learner experience. These links may also lead to CPD opportunities for staff in the department.
We welcome candidates with industry experience, and you will have the opportunity to work towards a teaching qualification. The role will require you to work towards a recognised Level 4 teaching qualification (PGCE/CertEd) or be willing to work towards a Level 5 teaching qualification upon appointment.
