The Role
Due to the promotion of the current postholder, the City Council is pleased to offer a great opportunity for an enthusiastic and self-motivated individual to start their local planning career in the Council’s Development Management Team.
The postholder will gain valuable experience of investigating breaches of planning control and, following a period of training, will assume responsibility for their own casework.
Whilst previous experience is not necessary, the successful candidate will be able to demonstrate good organisational skills, a willingness to learn about all aspects of the planning system, and excellent customer service.
Candidates may be working towards completing an undergraduate qualification or possess similar equivalent qualifications.
A full current UK driving licence is essential, as the post holder will be required to visit multiple sites across the district, often in areas without public transport alternatives. As a result you will be required to sign up to the authorised external DVLA driving licence validation organisation that we use to manage and monitor our employees’ driving licence data.
This post is permanent and the hours of work for this position are 37 hours per week. The Council currently operates an excellent Flexible Working Hours Scheme which applies to this post. Subject to the needs of this business, this may allow employees to work between the hours of 6:00am-10:30pm.
We can also offer a package of training support, mentoring and opportunities for hybrid working, including some homeworking and use of the City Council’s offices.
About You
You will identify with our organisational values of Pride, Ownership, Working Together and Ambition.
