If you are a qualified Social Worker, the starting salary would be commensurate of your Social Work qualification. </strong> <br><br>Based within the well-established and supportive Single Point of Access Team in the Town Hall, Weston-super-Mare, your overarching remit will be to work alongside the Deaf community across North Somerset, working with Deaf people with British Sign language as their first language. <br><br>You will need:<ul> <li>A passion for working with the Deaf community in a strength-based way.</li> <li>Good knowledge of Deaf awareness.</li> <li>British Sign Language preferable at level 2 or above.</li> <li>A background or understanding of health and social care or transferable skills related to the job description.</li> <li>IT skills to enable training on various in-house IT systems.</li> <li>To maintain and expand links with our Health and social care colleagues and voluntary sector agencies on behalf of North Somerset and the Deaf community.</li> <li>To organise Deaf Awareness week annually in May alongside our partner agencies.</li> <li>To attend existing Deaf community groups to provide support, information and advice as needed.</li> <li>To consider any equipment needs for people who are Deaf/deafblind/hard of hearing in their home environment.</li> </ul> <br> <br><strong>This post is exempt under the provisions of the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions) Order 1975 and is subject to an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service check. </strong><br><br>Valid driving licence and own transport, or be able to provide alternative, suitable method of travel is an essential condition for this role.<br><br>This role will include development opportunities to understand the Deaf Community and their needs currently and into the future.<br><br>As an Adult Social Care Worker / Social Worker, you will work within key legislative frameworks including the Care Act 2014 and the Mental Capacity Act 2005.<br><br>Part of your role will be to undertake Care Act Assessments, drawing up care plans with individuals, identifying their strengths and person-centred outcomes. You will complete Mental Capacity Assessments and be involved in Best Interest Decision making where appropriate.<br><br>We will utilise your transferable skills and provide training to enable you to promote the rights and choices of people with care and support needs, you will support people to identify and build upon their existing assets as well as access new resources to meet their identified outcomes.
