The FIG Directorate of Health &amp; Social Services are looking for a Senior Dental Practitioner to join our existing team which provides a comprehensive dental and oral health service, including emergency care, based in the King Edward Memorial Hospital in the Islands’ capital, Stanley.&nbsp; The service currently has facilities for three surgeries plus a small technical area. The department also offers a locally commissioned orthodontic service in which local staff offer basic orthodontic treatment plans under the guidance of an overseas orthodontic consultant. The service follows UK practices and standards of care, modified to meet local needs and circumstances.&nbsp; 
The Role
The successful applicant will undertake clinical and non-clinical duties, demonstrating the competencies of a skilled and clinically current dentist whilst also being an excellent team leader; this will involve carrying out the full duties of a dental officer, fulfilling the role of clinical lead (dental) and internal advisor on all dental matters within the Department of Health and Social Services, with support from an external Dental Advisor.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;
You will be expected to lead the implementation of the Oral Health Strategy and respond to the needs of the community (evidence based), along with playing an active role in delivering the orthodontic service. For applications not familiar with delivering basic orthodontic interventions, training will be arranged prior to taking up the post.
Whilst the position is patient focussed, it also involves leading and managing a small team which will require a ‘Serve-to-Lead’ approach to inspire confidence and generate followership from the dental team to ensure an integrated and effective service is provided.&nbsp;
The King Edward VII Memorial Hospital
The King Edward VII Memorial Hospital is the principal healthcare facility in the Falkland Islands, providing primary care and a broad range of elective and emergency secondary care services.&nbsp; The hospital is well equipped with ambitious plans being developed to expand and upgrade facilities.
The hospital environment is one in which clinical staff have the time, resources, and support to provide the highest standards of care and to develop their careers.&nbsp; In addition to being supported to practise with a broad scope, clinical staff are encouraged and assisted to develop particular areas of clinical expertise.
The Person
Holds a (minimum) Bachelor of Dental Surgery with at least of 5 years’ experience as a general dental practitioner, ideally in a senior post in the UK’s National Health Service (NHS) or a primary care community dental practice; or equivalent organisation.
<ul>
<li>Registered with the UK General Dental Council or recognised international equivalent which must be maintained for the duration of the appointment</li>
<li>Knowledge and experience of working within clinical governance systems and championing processes, including undertaking audits</li>
<li>Able to demonstrate flexible and personable management and communication skills necessary to lead and support the dental team</li>
<li>Competence in pouring dental models to be transported to the UK</li>
<li>Experience in delivering basic orthodontic interventions and treatment, or a willingness to undertake training.</li>
<li>Flexible approach to work as there is a requirement to be on-call on alternate weekends, Bank Holidays and Public Holidays and may be required to work outside of normal working hours as necessary.</li>
<li>A true understanding of ‘one-team’ ethos</li>
<li>Be a consummate professional in all environs; including in a clinical setting, through leadership of the team, management of the administrative functions and as an advisor to the Director of Health and Social Services.</li>
<li>Must uphold the values and standards of the organisation; even when off-duty; noting the additional responsibility such a senior position brings within a small Island community.</li>
<li>Experience in budget management.</li>

The Package

The King Edward VII Memorial Hospital in the Falkland Islands is looking for an established Pharmacy Technician with experience of managing medications stock and ordering and who is interested in working in our friendly and supportive pharmacy team. The Pharmacy Department provides the only pharmacy service on the islands and is a community pharmacy as well as a hospital pharmacy.
The hospital is the principal healthcare facility in the Falkland Islands providing primary care and a broad range of elective and emergency secondary care services.&nbsp; It is a modern and well-equipped facility providing high standards of care and with ambitious plans to further develop services and facilities.
The Role
The Pharmacy Technician – Procurement Lead is responsible for the procurement of pharmaceuticals for the King Edward VII Memorial Hospital and for the management of the pharmaceuticals budget with an annual value of around £1.3 million.&nbsp; Key objectives of the role include ensuring the ongoing availability of items in the local formulary and named-patient drugs, strengthening and improving procurement processes, and managing stock efficiently to minimize avoidable waste.&nbsp; As a member of the pharmacy team, and a registered pharmacy technician, the post holder will also undertake general pharmacy duties including dispensing.
The Person
Registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council or equivalent body
<ul>
<li>Level 3 qualification in Pharmacy Services</li>
<li>Five years or more experience as a pharmacy technician</li>
<li>Two years or more experience of pharmacy ordering and stock control</li>
<li>Ability to take individual responsibility for particular areas of work while also working flexibly as a member of the pharmacy team</li>
<li>Ability to operate electronic patient records systems such as EMIS</li>
</ul>
The Package

<li>A base salary of £28,982 to £35,672 (dependent upon experience)</li>
