We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Occupational Therapist to join the Disabled Facilities Grant (DFG) service at Bracknell Forest Council. This role focuses on housing adaptations and the progression of Disabled Facilities Grants, supporting residents to live independently and safely in their homes.

<h3>About you…</h3>
You will work closely with the DFG team, Adult Social Care colleagues, housing partners, contractors and Housing Associations. Using your occupational therapy expertise, you will ensure that adaptations are person centred, meet long term needs and are reviewed upon completion to ensure the assessed outcomes have been fully met.
You will have recent, relevant experience in major housing adaptations. You should be capable of working creatively with others to develop practical solutions where the home environment affects a person’s independence, function and wellbeing. This may also involve assessing and matching individuals to void properties when the current accommodation is unsuitable and cannot be reasonably adapted.
In addition to casework, you will also contribute to capacity building across teams by sharing your knowledge of major adaptations, legislation, eligibility criteria and associated processes.
<h3>About the team…</h3>
The Disabled Facilities Grant team is a small but busy team providing an extensive and responsive service to clients. This is a varied and interesting role ensuring projects are carried out to meet the needs of the client in the most timely, efficient and cost effective way. We support each other by working closely together to achieve the right results, and to deliver a holistic service to clients.
While the main office base is Time Square in Bracknell, this is an agile working role. Home visits and on site work will be required based on the needs of the role and service delivery.
<h3>Key responsibilities…</h3>
<ul>
<li>Undertake person centred functional assessments to identify housing related needs and recommend suitable home adaptations that promote independence, reduce risk and enable individuals to live safely in their own homes.</li>
<li>Assist in the development and review adaptation plans in partnership with service users and DFG colleagues, setting realistic and meaningful goals that support choice, control, and long term independence.</li>
<li>Work collaboratively with a range of professionals including DFG Case Workers, Surveyors, contractors, Housing Officers, Architects, Social Workers and health colleagues to ensure the effective design and delivery of home adaptations under the Disabled Facilities Grant.</li>
<li>Liaise with individuals, families and carers to ensure that proposed adaptations are necessary and appropriate to meet the client’s needs.</li>
<li>Maintain accurate, up-to-date electronic records using the council’s case management system, ensuring that assessments, decisions and outcomes are clearly documented.</li>
<li>Write clear, evidence based reports and professional recommendations to support DFG applications and specifications for adaptations.</li>
<li>Attend and contribute to multidisciplinary meetings and case discussions where housing needs and adaptations form part of broader care and support planning.</li>
<li>Make timely referrals and signpost individuals to relevant services, community support or other specialists, when needs fall outside the DFG scope or where additional support is beneficial.</li>
<li>Support the development and continuous improvement of the DFG service through involvement in audits, service planning and evaluations, ensuring the service remains responsive and effective.</li>
<li>Effectively manage a caseload, prioritising work based on risk, need and the complexity of individual circumstances, ensuring timely assessments and delivery of outcomes.</li>
<li>Work in line with safeguarding procedures to identify and reduce risks of harm, liaising with relevant professionals and escalating concerns where necessary.</li>
<li>To ensure all practice complies with the policies, procedures and standards of the council, as well as the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) Code of Conduct and Standards of Proficiency.</li>
<li>To actively participate in regular supervision, individual and team performance discussions and reflective practice sessions to improve own and team practice and performance.</li>
<li>Operate within the scope of professional competence, seeking advice and support when needed, and participating in ongoing training and professional development activities.</li>

Pay Progression&nbsp;
The Commission is about to launch a new Pay Structure in July 2025 which introduces performance-based pay progression. Eligibility for the performance-based pay progression will be April 2026 and is dependent on having completed the required six months service at the progression rating date (31 January). The new structure allows the potential for pay progression on top of any inflationary increase for staff.&nbsp;
The range below shows the potential maximum pay progression in addition to any annual inflationary increase to your pay.&nbsp;&nbsp;
The full width of the B Band starts at £31,549 and goes up to £42,065. Please note that the salary band for new staff is up to £33,126 and our default position is to appoint into the lower zone of the band unless exceptional circumstances.&nbsp;

We are currently seeking an IT support enthusiast to join the council's key service as a Trainee User Support Officer.&nbsp; This is an exciting opportunity to gain experience while working towards your level 3 qualification in Information Communications Technician.
<h3>About you...</h3>
As a Trainee User Support Officer, you will be part of a service desk dealing with varied requests and issues requiring technical support to resolve them.&nbsp;
You will focus on resolution and customer service. Attention to detail, common sense, and a readiness to tackle new technical issues daily are essential.&nbsp;
The User Support team is part of ICT Services and provides first line technical support and, as a Trainee User Support Officer, you will be the first point of contact. You will be a team player working to undertake analysis, diagnosis and resolution of incidents and service requests logged with the Service Desk.&nbsp;
This role requires strong customer focus, excellent interpersonal skills along with a keen interest in improving the ICT support function.
The Trainee User Support Officer will have a keen interest in developing technical skillset plus experience of using and troubleshooting Windows 11 and Office365 is key for this role.

We provide 1st line technical support as first point of contact for over 4000+ staff, suppliers, Councillors and schools.
<h3>Key responsibilities...</h3>
<ul>
<li>To record, track and prioritise incidents and service requests at first point of contact.</li>
<li>To resolve user requests in a timely manner to ensure achievement of the ICT service level agreement while customer-focused metrics remain at a high level of satisfaction.</li>
<li>To keep the Knowledge Base updated with the latest updates to solutions, create articles based on new problems logged with the Service Desk and use other team’s solutions to fix calls at first point of contact.</li>
<li>To manage multiple communication channels on a day-to-day basis.</li>
<li>You will be supported to achieve your apprenticeship qualification.</li>
<li>You will be encouraged to learn how to troubleshoot and administer bespoke systems at Bracknell Council.</li>

Apprenticeship - Information Communications Technician Level 3
Alongside your job role you will undertake the Information Communications Technician level 3 apprenticeship. Your learning will be a combination of online classroom-based sessions, one to one support with a workplace coach and on the job learning and will last for 15 months.&nbsp; At the end of the programme, you will complete an end point assessment and when this is successfully completed you will gain your Information Communications Technician level 3 qualification.
Working in partnership with the council and the training provider you will learn and demonstrate the skills and behaviours required to successfully meet the apprenticeship standard.&nbsp;
You will collect a folder of evidence to demonstrate your knowledge and skills over the period of your apprenticeship.
Whilst studying for your apprenticeship you will be supported by a workplace coach and at the end of your apprenticeship, we will work with you to see if we can identify and secure a permanent position for you in Bracknell Forest Council.&nbsp;
