A main part of your role will be focusing on the professional building surveying of the council's temporary accommodation stock. You will also oversee the day-to-day repairs, manage voids, ensure cyclical compliance and coordinate capital works and Disabled Facilities Grants (DFGs).
The Senior Building Surveyor will also be responsible for ensuring projects are effectively procured and that they meet statutory and legislative requirements, delivering value for money and adhering to our internal governance policies and procedures.&nbsp;

Our dynamic Housing Management team provides an extensive and responsive property management service to homeless clients in temporary accommodation. As part of the Welfare and Housing service, our team collaborates closely to achieve the best outcomes and deliver a comprehensive service to those who are homeless or at risk of homelessness. You will engage in varied and rewarding work every day, making a real difference in people’s lives.
<h3>Key responsibilities...</h3>






You will lead the preparation of specifications and contract conditions for tendering works. This includes coordinating with our main term contractor and service contractor for repairs and specialist projects.&nbsp;
You will inspect and assess repair requests, such as damp and mould, providing technical advice on solutions. You will also conduct property inspections to determine when components need replacement and advise regarding inclusion of works within Planned Maintenance Programmes.
You will undertake inspections relating to health and safety issues, noting any deviation from regulatory or legislative requirements or construction standards.






The Senior Building Surveyor will manage and monitor contractors and consultants, addressing any issues independently when standards are not met.
A main part of the role will also be the provision of technical approval for Disabled Facility Grant applications and oversee the associated works, including progress and final inspections.

An opportunity has arisen to join this highly motivated Housing repairs team, which is responsible for carrying out approximately 20,000&nbsp;repairs to council properties every year.

<h2>Job Profile</h2>
You should have considerable experience of building maintenance in all areas of work (excluding gas, electrics and decorating works).
The ideal candidate should be competent to carry out day – day repairs and complete bathroom and kitchen refits to council properties.

We are looking for a talented and forward-thinking&nbsp;Data Analyst&nbsp;to join our Strategy and Performance team. This is a pivotal role where you will support the development of our business intelligence capabilities.

An exciting opportunity has arisen within Guildford Borough Council’s Design and Conservation Team in the role of Senior Urban Design Officer to provide proactive specialist urban design advice and to play a key role in shaping future built development within the Borough.
GBC have adopted two Local Plans over the last 5 years and are just about to embark on a Local Plan update in line with the government’s new plan making process. The existing Local Plan includes a number of very large residential led sites that are still to secure planning permission. Work is also starting on a capacity study in and around the Town Centre that will inform site allocations including guidance on the height and density of development and design coding. To enable the delivery of these ambitions, a highly experienced and qualified Urban Designer is being sought to lead and champion high quality contextual urban design and help shape sustainable development and growth in the Borough.
Working within the Council’s Economy, Planning and Place Service, the role will involve a stimulating balance of casework and strategic policy guidance, and will include:

<li>Leading in placemaking and urban design across the borough, including newly planned neighbourhoods, housing projects, regeneration areas and town centre projects.</li>
<li>Providing proactive design advice on major PPAs and planning applications, as well as working with developers and their representatives on all matters relating to urban design and the built form.</li>
<li>Providing advice on proposals with significant impacts on the public realm and on environmental improvement schemes.</li>
<li>Evaluating existing guidance and producing up to date guidance and policies.</li>
<li>Contributing to ongoing policy work.</li>
</ul>
Applicants should have a recognised degree/post graduate qualification in urban design, planning or architecture as well as proven professional experience within the urban design field role. Excellent verbal, written and illustrative communication, effective time management and a sound knowledge and proactive use of national design policy, guidance and legislation are all essential. You will also have an ability to build a rapport and working relationship with stakeholders, elected members, consultees, colleagues and local communities. The successful candidate will also need to hold a full driving licence and have access to a car.&nbsp;Membership of a recognised professional body (RIBA, RTPI, RICS) would also be desirable, as would experience of working within a local planning authority or similar agency.
The offices are located by the river Wey, close to Guildford Town Centre, and a short walk from the station. The post also benefits from on-site parking as an essential car user.&nbsp;

Senior Urban Design Officer

Two year fixed term contractThis newly established role aims to secure suitable, affordable accommodation within the private rented sector for Rushmoor residents at risk of homelessness, including Ukrainian refugees and other vulnerable individuals.&nbsp;This role will play a key role in building strong relationships with landlords, managing Rushmoor’s rent deposit scheme, and working closely with key partners to provide long-term housing solutions.&nbsp;By facilitating access to stable tenancies, this role will help reduce reliance on unsuitable and costly temporary housing, such as B&amp;B, ensuring residents can secure safe and sustainable accommodation.&nbsp;This position is instrumental in preventing homelessness, promoting housing stability, and fostering community integration.<h4>Main Responsibilities</h4><ul><li>Develop and maintain strong partnerships with private landlords and letting agents to secure accommodation for people at risk of homelessness.</li><li>Administer and manage Rushmoor’s rent deposit scheme, ensuring efficient allocation and recovery of funds.</li><li>Support applicants in securing affordable and sustainable tenancies</li><li>Negotiate tenancy agreements to ensure that they are compliant with current legislation</li><li>Work closely with the housing team and support services, to prevent homelessness</li><li>Provide financial guidance to tenants, helping them manage the financial aspects of their tenancy</li><li>Help tenants set up their tenancies by signposting to relevant agencies and charities for help.
