Key responsibilities:

<li>To advise on the transport implications/highways impacts of pre-application development proposals</li>
<li>To assess planning applications including advising and making recommendations on their transportation implications, having regard to Borough policy and to Government policy and advice.</li>

 About the role
We currently have a vacancy for an experienced social work qualified Assistant Team Manager to join our Supporting Families Team, part of the Family Help &amp; Safeguarding service. We firmly believe that relationship-based social work makes a real difference to the lives of children, young people and their families, and our Supporting Families Team focus is on delivering outstanding support to families.
 Our Supporting Families Team currently provides a range of interventions including supervised contact for Children Looked After; specialist support for parent/carers with substance misuse difficulties via a Consultant Practitioner; providing direct work and parenting interventions for those children subject to CP Plans, and offering group work support for parents/carers who are survivors of domestic abuse. There is now an exciting development within the Team to introduce a small group of Lead Practitioners to case hold Child in Need (S.17, Children Act 1989) cases in line with the social work reforms, with the support of a social work qualified and experienced Assistant Team Manager.
As this Assistant Team Manager, you will be responsible for leading and supervising a small team of 7 Lead Practitioners who will each case-hold a number of Child in Need cases, taking new cases from our Together for Families Teams following the completion of Single Assessment. You will provide passionate and inspiring leadership to your Team, providing regular high-quality supervision and support - including chairing meetings and conducting joint visits with the Lead Practitioner as required. You will ensure that the child’s lived experience and the promotion of their welfare is at the very heart of everything that is done. As the Building Safety Manager, you will be the key point of contact for all matters related to building safety within our residential properties. Working as part of our dynamic Property Services Compliance Team, you will oversee vital safety inspections and document audits across a diverse range of properties, including:

Working in partnership with the Compliance Team, you will ensure that work orders are efficiently raised to external contractors to complete remedial works and uphold compliance obligations across key areas such as:

<li>Review of Building Safety Measures following a report of a Fire in a Housing building.</li>
<li>Escalation of non-conformities to service colleagues</li>
<li>Act as subject matter expert (Building Safety) to, Project Managers and building surveyors to ensure effective delivery of the programme.</li>
<li>Engage with key stakeholders and ensure effective communication and involvement with project activity.</li>
<li>Track all related project activity including monitoring against Building Safety targets against Industry specifications and British Standards.</li>

 About you
The ideal candidate will need to be front facing so will have to be able to engage with internal and external stakeholders at all levels and able to demonstrate change management experience.
The ideal candidate will possess a strong working knowledge of relevant legislation, including the Health and Safety at Work Act, CDM Regulations, and Fire Safety standards. They will have proven experience managing budgets, allocating resources effectively, and overseeing the maintenance and safety of high-rise buildings. A sound understanding of risk management, coupled with project management experience, is essential. Additionally, proficiency in standard office software, such as word processing and spreadsheet tools, is required, along with the ability to problem-solve and prioritise tasks in high-pressure environments. Experience in tendering works is also necessary. 
A comprehensive understanding of building structures, systems, and maintenance is vital to this role. The successful candidate will demonstrate strong technical knowledge in risk management, supported by effective leadership, communication, and planning skills. They will show a clear commitment to ethical conduct, professionalism, and adherence to high standards. The ability to prepare detailed reports and coordinate complex operational activities is essential. 
The role also demands high-level competencies in negotiation, change management, and strategic thinking. Analytical skills and sound decision-making capabilities are critical to ensuring effective outcomes in a dynamic working environment. A flexible and proactive approach to challenges will be a key asset, enabling the candidate to adapt and respond effectively to evolving demands. 
In terms of qualifications, candidates must hold a minimum of an HNC in a relevant field, supported by a professional qualification such as IFE, IOSH, or equivalent in Building Surveying. A full UK driving license is also a requirement for this position, given the need to travel between sites as part of the role.

Are you passionate about smart transport solutions and making a real difference to how people move around Reading? We are looking for a&nbsp;Traffic Signals &amp; ITS Technician&nbsp;to join our dynamic Network Services team.
This is a fantastic opportunity to work at the heart of Reading’s transport infrastructure, supporting the design, implementation, and maintenance of intelligent transport systems (ITS) including traffic signals and CCTV.

About the Role:
You will play a key part in supporting the operation and optimisation of Reading’s Urban Traffic Management &amp; Control (UTMC) systems, including technologies like SCOOT, MOVA and Variable Message Signs (VMS) As a Traffic Signals &amp; ITS Technician you will assist with traffic signal controller testing, site acceptance testing, and the modelling of complex junctions to improve traffic flow. Your work will also involve helping to design and implement traffic control schemes, contributing to technical reports and drawings, and supporting the planning and coordination of events that impact the highway network. Additionally, you’ll liaise with internal teams, neighbouring authorities, and external stakeholders to ensure the smooth delivery of intelligent transport solutions across the borough. What We’re Looking For:
<ul>
<li>A strong interest in transport systems and willingness to work towards relevant qualifications (e.g. NVQ in electrical work or ITS).</li>
<li>Good communication and problem-solving skills.</li>
<li>Experience in a technical or office-based environment with the ability to manage a varied workload.</li>
<li>A full UK driving licence (or working towards one) and willingness to work occasional out-of-hours shifts.</li>
