<h4>Job summary</h4><p>This is a Fixed-term Appointment as a Caseworker in the RAF Disclosures. Your responsibilities will be as described in this job advert. The job holder will ensure that all services are provided to a high standard and that security and control is maintained at all times. The jobholder will be able to teach prisoners towards achieving nationally recognised qualifications and may be supported by external organisations such as local colleges.</p><p>This job description is not for use by jobholders in basic assembly / packing workshops, instead Production Instructor – Enterprises should be used. However, on an exceptional short term basis jobholders can supervise prisoners in more basic workshops.</p><p>This is a non-operational job in an establishment with no line management responsibilities.</p><p><strong>Responsibilities, Activities and Duties</strong></p><p>The job holder will be required to carry out the following responsibilities, activities and duties:</p><p>• May participate in the selection process of prisoners for the workshop/area of work.</p><p>• Induct prisoners to the workshop/area of work and train them in aspects such as health and safety, Control of Substance Hazardous to health (COSHH), machinery and tools usage.</p><p>• Provide support for prisoners where required; tailor learning and training requirements to individual needs.</p><p>• Set work schedules and manage targets/quality standards, maintaining delivery of contractual arrangements.</p><p>• Assess and evaluate skills of prisoners up to national qualification standards.</p><p>• Supervise and maintain discipline of prisoners within workshop/area of work, responsible for performance, motivation, discipline, appraisal and development of prisoners.</p><p>• Maintain regular communications via radio net in accordance with Local Security Strategy (LSS).</p><p>• Open and complete Assessment Care in Custody and Teamwork (ACCT) forms,</p><p>Violence Reduction Incident Reports (VRIR) and Security Information Reports (SIRs) when required and contribute to Incentive Earned Privileges (IEP) reports.</p><p>• Will conduct a metal detector scan or rub down search of prisoners attending and leaving their own workshops.</p><p>• Provide quality assurance against product specification.</p><p>• Log attendance and approve prisoner hours worked and wages including recording piece work where appropriate.</p><p>• Carry out fabric and tool checks of workshops and maintain security of areas, logging any tool/equipment faults. <h4>Job summary</h4>Please refer to Job Description<h4>Job description</h4><p>This campaign is for various working patterns including fulltime and part-time at Wordsworth House, details of working patterns mentioned below:</p><p>Fulltime Peripatetic Residential Worker- where successful candidates will be required to undertake reasonable travel in order to cover shifts at Approved Premises sites within the locality of their cluster.</p><p>Fulltime/ Part time Residential Worker vacancies where successful candidates will be allocated to one Approved Premise to undertake their shift pattern.</p><p>Annualised hour working pattern. For either 625 or 1250 hours per year, the equivalent of one or two 12 hour shifts each week and are a mix of standard and unsocial hours.</p><p>Please only apply if you have flexibility to work at any AP mentioned and any working pattern mentioned. This will be discussed at interview stage.</p><p>Merit list will also be created to fulfil upcoming vacancies that come up at Wordsworth House.</p><p>Please note: RW staff members cannot move across to another band 3 such as PSO as the job descriptions are different.</p><p>Colleagues work an average of 37 hours per week, comprised of 12 hours shifts undertaken during the weekdays and the weekend including day shifts starting at 8am and overnight shifts starting at 8pm, over a 7-week rota cycle. On average our current rota requires Residential Workers to work 4 days per week. In addition, there are often opportunities for full-time staff to work additional shifts for overtime payments. All approved premises have a minimum of double cover at all times.</p><p><strong>Overview of the job </strong></p><p>The job holder will work as part of a team providing 24-hour cover at an Approved Premises (AP) including security and monitoring services. The job holder will undertake a full range of work with the people on probation whilst resident at the Approved Premises. This will include; providing support in contributing to the risk management and sentence plan objectives and reporting any significant changes relating to risk and/or re-offending to any non-compliance within agreed enforcement procedures to ensure that people on probation resident at an AP and the fabric of it are kept safe and secure throughout their shift.</p><p><strong>Summary </strong></p><p>The job holder will assist in the well-being and supervision of residents, maintaining discipline, adherence to Approved Premises rules, licence conditions, sentence plan objectives specific to residency in the Approved Premises and court orders. In addition, will contribute to the management of residents’ risk. This post will involve substantial out of hours work, both waking night duty and weekend work. The post holder may be required to cover duties at other Approved Premises at times of staff absence.</p><p>In line with PS policies and procedures, the job holder must at all times demonstrate a commitment to equality and inclusion and an understanding of their relevance to the work they do. </p><p>The post holder must adhere to all policies in respect of the sensitive/confidential nature of the information handled whilst working in this position.</p><p><strong>Responsibilities, Activities &amp; Duties </strong></p><p>The job holder will be required to carry out the following responsibilities, activities and duties:</p><ul><li>Contribute to effective team practice, communicate and collaborate effectively with colleagues to ensure consistency of work practices and positive working environment.</li><li>Effectively communicate key risk issues to colleagues at handover and throughout the shift. Challenge and manage appropriately abusive or aggressive behaviour.</li><li>Contribute to the risk management plans of residents by observing and reporting any significant changes relating to risk and/or re-offending to any non-compliance within agreed enforcement procedures.</li><li>Contribute to the sentence plan objectives of the residents through active engagement in purposeful activities as agreed by the AP Manager and Offender Manager.</li><li>Ensure that the AP is locked and secure during curfew period. Confirm the presence and wellbeing of all residents overnight.</li><li>Facilitate the function of the AP as a first/emergency point of contact out of hours.</li><li>Through observation and/or engagement with residents, provide accurate information, analysis of situation and risk assessment to the Offender Manager and/or escalate to Out of Hours Manager, which may lead to enforcement and/or compliance with court orders, licences, AP rules.</li><li>Support, create and maintain a safe working environment for staff, residents and visitors by adhering to Health and Safety legislation, ensuring Safe Systems of Work (SSOW) and Risk Assessments are followed reporting incidents to Manager.</li><li>Undertake Health and Safety, fire alarm, curfews and room curfew checks in line with procedures.</li><li>Undertake pre-arranged or initiate room searches based on concerns around risk.</li><li>Pack up residents’ possessions as directed.</li><li>Set up and/or deliver purposeful activities linked to residents’ sentence plan objectives as agreed by the Offender Manager and AP Manager.</li><li>Supervise residents’ meals.</li><li>Undertake effective induction of residents.</li><li>Follow prescribed medication procedures including the issuing of medication to residents and both weekly and nightly audit of medication sheets.</li><li>To carry out drug and alcohol tests in line with risk management plan which may include times when job holder believes that the resident maybe under the influence and therefore increase in risk.</li><li>Undertake First Aid if a resident is injured or self-harms.</li><li>Maintain Approved Premises records and files as required, including data entry as necessary and contribute to the completion of incident reports.</li><li>Carry out safeguarding children duties in accordance with the PS statutory responsibilities and agency policies.</li><li>Deal with visitors and telephone calls and monitor the work of visiting contractors in accordance with health and safety.</li><li>Demonstrate pro-social modelling skills by consistently reinforcing pro-social behaviour and attitudes and challenging anti-social behaviour and attitudes.</li><li>To work within the aims and values of PS and HMPPS.</li></ul><p>The duties/responsibilities listed above describe the post as it is at present and is not intended to be exhaustive. <p>Exceptional communication skills are essential and you will be required to work with the organisation’s in-house computer system (SystmOne) along with Microsoft Office; with particular emphasis on Outlook, Word and Excel.</p>
