Advert Text

We are looking for a highly motivated, ambitious, and politically aware individual to join the Leader’s Office at Merton Council as one of our Cabinet Support Officers.

Following the current administration being re-elected with an increased majority in May 2026, this is a particularly exciting time to join the Leader’s Office in a key role which is crucial to helping the Leader of the Council, Cabinet, and wider Labour Group deliver on the administration’s ambitions to make Merton a cleaner, greener, safer, and more affordable place to live and work.

Working to the Cabinet Manager, you’ll provide direct policy, research and administrative support to Cabinet Members, helping them to carry out their duties effectively to deliver the administration’s priorities.

No two days will be the same; you’ll be working in a fast-paced environment on range of different important policy agendas and service issues; from social care and education to improving town centres and helping families struggling with their finances and opportunities for residents to be involved in this great sporting borough.

We welcome applications from people from a diversity of backgrounds.

Merton Council offers excellent holiday entitlement and a competitive salary along with enrolment in the Local Government Pension Scheme.

We are situated in Merton Civic Centre, opposite Morden Underground Station which is on the Northern Line. We are also a 10 minutes' walk from Morden Road Tram Stop and both Morden South and South Merton Railway Stations.

We are also near Wimbledon which is part of The London Borough of Merton.
