Role Purpose We are looking to appoint a Highways Information Officer to the Public Realm section. You will be responsible for updating and maintaining the accuracy of the council's highway register, overseeing orders to extinguish and create highways and providing the Council's external facing highway enquiries services. Key Responsibilities Keep the highway register up to date and accurate. Use desktop GIS tools to digitally capture highway related datasets including adopted highway boundaries, highways boundary maintenance agreements, stopping up order areas, with associated information to a consistent and correct standard. Prepare and manage borough responses toenquiries on the highway boundary from members of the public, council officersand other public and private organisations and advise on the legal status ofthe highway. Participatein the Borough’s Road Adoption Procedures for public highways with respect todesign, supervision and monitoring of contractors and developers. Lead on the processing of orders toextinguish, divert and adopt areas of the highway in accordance with theHighway Act. Represent the Highway Authority in court onmatters pursuant to the postholder’s duties. Requirements The successful applicant will have effective communication skills and attention to detail, combined with the ability to keep accurate records and produce work to required deadlines. Knowledge of relevant highway law and processes relevant to the post will be advantage.
