Our Highways team aims to provide a high quality road network for the region. By ensuring our highways are safe for the public, we help make Central Bedfordshire a great place to work and live. As a Highways Officer-Programme, you’ll make a big contribution. You’ll help to determine the programme of works for the highways service and ensure we receive best value. Give local people outstanding roads and you could find your greatness.
The Highway Contracts team monitors the Highway budget, Forward Plan, Annual Plan, Task Plans and overall programme as well as ordering systems and third party works to name a few. The monthly application for payment is assessed and approved by Highways Contract, an annual value of approximately £20million. We need a Highways Officer- Programme to join our hard-working team. It’s your chance to shape the highways programme and have a real impact on our highway network. What’s more, it’s your chance to do something great; to make a difference to our community by keeping the county moving.
You’ve worked in highways before, so you’re used to dealing with contracts, works and customers. You build good working relationships, drawing on strong communication skills. With a degree or equivalent in programming, you’ll be IT-literate and a natural problem solver.
Join us, and take advantage of a generous rewards package, flexible working and the chance to learn and influence. You’ll be playing a key role in developing the Council’s growth agenda, so now’s the time to find your greatness by helping to boost our local area.
